Oh, that's simple. I just did that real quick in Photoshop by outlining the dogs with the lasso tool and desaturating everything else. Here's the original photo. These scanned dark, I was using a monitor I hadn't used for scanning before so I need to rescan it and lighten it up a bit.”

My Chihuahua is a tricolor, so she is mostly black, and Chihuahuas love to bask in the sun. It's actually a trait they have. If the smalletst beam of light comes in my window and hits the floor, my dog, Capri, will sit in it, but when we are outside and she gets too hot, she will go in the shade.”

the eyes have two distinct cell types - sickles and cones.

one type detects color, the other b&w (light?).

Nocturnal animals have a disproportionate number of the b&whities. Though this makes them essentially color blind, it gives them excellent vision in low light conditions.

Dogs fall under this catagory.



Hear tell it, recent research seems to determine that dogs can, indeed, detect a lil' color.

Had to shoot her , got into my barn and began killing livestock.Even chained her,that night she jumped through a barn window to keep her killing up.Didn`t want to but had no choice,she`s not the first dog I`ve shot unfortunately.Dogs just seem hell bent on killing things.People gotta learn to keep their dogs at home and not let`em run,they can sure chew up live stock.”

madeintahoe, the shot of my dogs on the trail is going up the Mono Pass trail from the Mosquito Flat trailhead (Rock Creek). This section was about halfway between the trailhead and Ruby Lake. Flowers lined the trail the entire way, it was awesome! Thanks again.”

“My favorite doggy packs (and I've tried quite a few) are from a company called Wolf Packs®. I order them online. These packs are el heavy-o duty-o to the maxo. I've had previous packs that were easily shredded as we bushwhacked. I get their Bonzai model, which is super duper flipper dipper heavy duty.”

We did not have the wildflowers like that when we did the Pioneer Basin trip along that section of trail..looks like they were at peak when you were there.

The poster who felt the need to shot the dog Amy...is very disturbing to me, I am sick about it.. says I had no choice, what about finding Amy another home where she would be the only animal, why was that not done? Dogs have a right to go and run if they are well trained and will listen to voice command if you need to call them back to you.”

I think most of them make up stories to try and piss of the dog lovers (apparently lots of people on this forum have been severely mauled multiple times by dogs on trails... ya right) so don't let it disturb you. They're just tryin' to rile things up. 95% of the people I meet on the trail absolutely adore my dogs... they always comment on how beautiful they are and how well-trained they are. Then every once in a while I get someone who tells me to put the little-@#%#@$!s on a leash or leave them home and tell me how they've been badly bitten by nearly every dog they've seen. I just nod and smile and continue on because I know my dogs will bring smiles to the next people we see. I even have people taking photos of my dogs. There's too much happiness in this world to dwell on the few dog haters you'll meet.”

“Amy was shot because she maimed and killed livestock.She was given another chance and attempted to kill again.Where I`m from dogs like that are putdown,if she killed my neighbors livestock and he shot her ,it would be understood.Live stock are peoples livelihood,you can`t have dogs killing anf getting away with it.Domestic dogs kill for sport and leave a damage,obviously you haven`t seen maimed and mutilated cattle or sheep.If fluffy maims a sheep,fluffy gets shot,to chase fluffy away only allows fluffy to come back and do it again. “paddles, I have no idea how you raise your dogs, but my dogs don't go around killing things. Yes, my dogs have even been on farms and ranches and they don't kill chickens or calves or any livestock. My dogs meet up with horses and llamas often on the trails and we all politely step aside while the horses/llamas pass through, no problems at all. My dogs are around cats and guinea pigs and bunnies and turkeys quite often. If you spend time with your dog(s) (other than having it run around a ranch as just another animal) and train them appropriately, your dogs would have no desire to run around killing things indiscriminately. Dogs are very trainable, but it takes "time" and respect and care for them to reflect your own desires. Most people are more concerned with their dog sniffing butts than they are killing everything they see.”

“If you truly "loved" your dog Amy, you would have given her away to someone who 1)deeply cared for her 2)lives in a non-ranching area. Shooting your own dog (family member) because it attacked a chicken or something because you didn't properly train it, or at least give it away to a family who doesn't have livestock near them, is a sorry reason to shoot something you "love". Which I can only assume means you don't love dogs. I certainly hope you don't get any more dogs while you live where you do. That would be very sad.”

Well..I do have to ask paddles if he really believes all domestic dogs kill for sport..that is just so ridicules..and to make a statement like that is really upsetting to read!!!!

No one kills their dog, they give it away to someone else or a shelter or fix the problem of the dog getting into the chickens with fencing. The person is full of chicken poop!”
