I really don't care for this machine but it is all they have. Also started to jog some then the shin starting hurting a little. Gave that up and went to the bike for 20 minutes on cross country. Back at the gym again tonight. Then bike riding Sat and working a mtn bike race Sunday. Might get home in time to do a spin class..40 minutes of hell...yeehaw” 12:05:15 PM 10/08/04 “Wow Ewker! You are doing a lot! I find that I can avoid the shin pain after running if I sit in a chair with my feet on the floor and do "toe raises." I just briskly raise my toes up and down with my heels still resting on the floor. I talked to a physical therapist about this and apparently there is some dynamic behind it that loosens up the ligaments and whatever in the front of the shins. (shrugging) I don't know what it does, but it keeps my shins from hurting and that's all that matters to me.” 12:31:54 PM 10/08/04 “pixie, I have never had shin problems before. I guess if I had a stomach bug it would make me throw up which would make me feel better.” 7:41:05 PM 10/11/04 Weight/Body Fat scale “Hey you guys, if you are in the market for one of these, I found a cheapy one at Wal Mart for $35 (vs the $70 Tanika one) I've been comparing it to the high quality scales at my gym and have had a trainer there do the caliper body fat thingy and I'm finding my new scale to be pretty darn accurate! So I think it's a great deal. The body fat is actually dead on (when used according to the directions: need to have clean, slightly damp feet. I just did it right after my shower before drying my feet off.) The weight part seems to be only off by a pound. Which as long as I know this, I can just subtract that pound.” 11:45:19 AM 10/12/04 “Oh, I did my Core Secrets dvd (25 minute workout) last night and went to the gym for 30 minutes on the bike this morning. It's good to hear everyone else is doing well. Currafreak and KamperKiller, good job on getting to the gym, and KK keep it up! You are lucky to have a workout buddy for motivation. Hang in there. Gem, are you doing any weight training? Personally, I actually like it better than cardio and it's great for reshaping the body. Actually I am a little person. At 5'5", I weigh only 121 pounds. But I have terrible body fat percentage at 29%!!!! That isn't even in the healthy range. It is at the bottom of the "fair" range. I need to drop to 27% to get to healthy. So I guess, I am not looking so much at my weight, but at the body fat. That's why I bought the scale. It is sort of pain to have the trainers do caliper tests all the time. It takes up their time and it's not fun to have some guy I don't know pinching the fatty parts of my body.
