Not to mention, they like to take that time to try to sell me personal training, which is way too expensive.

what do they charge out there per hr. I thought about doing it here. the place I go has about 3-4 guys who work with you. The only ones I ever see do the training are females. More motivation to go when your paying for it

I don't remember, just that it racked up my credit cards fast.

I did think it was helpful though. I learned a lot about how to use the weight equipment.

Only a short run for me today. KK is off the hook 'cause she picked up my crud. Hopefully she'll be fit for tc4 in a couple of days.

At my gym when you first join you make an appointment with one of the personal trainers and free of charge they will spend an hour with you showing you how to correctly use each piece of equipment. Of course... being a man I didn't need any instruction...

I still can't figure out that damned computer on the treadmill!!!

I hate the treadmill.

at my gym we get the one on one training when you first join but there isn't anyone to push you to do it when you go. The money speaks when you are paying someone to train you. Kind of like going to college, if your parents pay you don't try as hard but when you have to pay you get serious about it.

At my old job our corporate business park had a gym. It was a little small but quite nice. One time (yup, once only!) fee of $15! Whatta deal! But I don't work there anymore, so I can't go. (Not that I would want to drive all that way to go there.)

There is a gym chain here called Pure Fitness. They have free personal training. and not just the one time when you join. I'm almost thinking of joining that one as well as 24 Hour Fitness. Their fee is $25/month with no set up fee or contract. So the way I see it, it would be $25/month for personal training! Now that's a deal!

pixie, I actually used to be pretty deep into bodybuilding. Way back then when I was young and not so wrinkled, Tony pearson times, etc... LOL I loved it back then. I quit when they told me to start taking steriods. Well, and then I met hubby a little while later on too.

I still have a lot of muscles, but also have a lot of fat over those freaking muscles.

I do have the same scale, mine is way off, it tells me that I have 18% body fat. There is NO WAY I have 18% bodyfat. NO WAY!!!

I am not telling how much I weigh. I can tell you that I need to loose like 10lbs or so.

Gemini,
Are you using the scale with wet clean feet and such?

I noticed when I first bought it, it was off and said I was at 26%. But this morning, I toweled off from my shower and got on with wet feet. The instructions also said that hydration (as in water intake) was a factor too. Honestly the thing is finnicky! Conditions have to be right and the same each time for accuracy.

I understand what you mean about fat over the muscles. Same problem here.

That's another reason I decided to jump on the wagon for a while. I was hoping to drop some fat as well as get fit. Lifting weights and drinking was only making me bigger, not fitter.

I'm doing my Advanced dvd today. I was going to do it this morning, but was too tired. My fitness ball is all inflated in my bedroom right now. I hope my real estate lady doesn't find out. She'd be annoyed with me that things don't look perfect! (I inflate it and deflate it for each workout so it isn't sitting out.)

FIT TV all day in my office. Its great to work in Cable TV. I'm gonna do a wicked workout tonight when I get home. Tuesday consisted of doing 250 pushups in a 3 hour period and all sorts of other strength training excersises. Been cranking it out for 2 months now, plus an entire summer of canoeing. feels great to be back in peak shape. energy levels are WAY up and mental energy is way up too. Nice to have everything in balance.

kudos to you all for gettin started or those just continuing!!!

i didn't do any running the last 2 days. still have blisters, and with the trip to mitchell coming up I don't want to push it...don't need any more blisters.

did some weights though.
I have this huge ball I do situps on. So much better then doing regular situps on the floor.

Dieting is the fastest way to lose weight. It takes a lot of aerobic activity to drop pounds. Activity is good too, but the key is eating less and better quality food to be healthy.

trust me, I am the expert in dieting. [ironicly talking] tyroid problem for almost 20 years now, quit smoking, love chocolate. every day 90 minutes of running, every other day weight training...and still too fat! Yupp, i know all about it.

I could prolly write a dang book.

don't like the ball to do other exercise, but I do like it for all my stomach exercise. well actually I have never tried other exercise besides abs with the ball. i may need to huh

Gemini, you sound like you are putting in a lot of effort. You will get where you want to be in time. I'm trying to lose a few pounds too, and it's a slow, frustrating process.

A back doctor told me that having a strong stomach will give you a good back.

Dieting alone
does NOT work. Especially low calorie dieting. It helps to lose a little fat, but muscle loss can be a big problem. Dieting just makes me smaller but still flabby.

It's a combination of a healthy diet, exercise (cardio and weight training) that is key.

I like to think of my body like a car. It needs a balance of things to function at top performance.

I did my Accelerated Core Secrets dvd last night and Elliptical for 30 mins at the gym this morning. I am starting to notice my clothes are fitting better. But my body fat percentage and weight are about the same. BF % went down .5% though. I definitely feel stronger, which makes me emotionally feel empowered.

I guess I'm lucky...
9% body fat and I don't watch what I eat, other than eating naturally good all the time...no fast food and no Mcy D (except for egg mcmuffins on the way to the woods on Sat am). I eat balanced meals, home cooked every day.

I weigh 147 at 5'8" and have boundless energy. Mental wellness has alot to do with my current attitude...dating ROCKS!!!

I had an awesome run this morning. Two miles with sprints for dessert. The local greenway by my house opened up a couple of new miles which are flatter than my usual route. It made for a longer less challenging route, but the sprints took care of that.

Ooh embear, I've seen that happen to people before. It makes my own eyes water to think about it.

Ok, 4 weeks on the Core Secrets plan. Update time.

Gained a pound and a half! HUH? Hoping it's muscle.
Lost inches: .5 on hips, 1 on thigh, 1 chest.
Same: waist
Gained: 1 inch on arm (woo hoo! Go biceps!)

Body Fat percentage loss of .5% (sigh. Was hoping for more.)

I'm not giving up though. Go me!

I am in the WORST shape in my life. After thru hiking the John Muir Trail. A month without normal food. I came back and have eaten everything in site. And as the saying goes if you take more calories in than you burn each day. You are going to gain weight. At least the normal people. The weight is not a issue for me. But being out of shape makes it tougher to do and enjoy the things I like to do. So I recently started working out again. Which I should have done sooner. So you go do it pixaxe killer. Do it and keep doing it! I too will be doing it as well.

I am using BF scale from Wally World. But I also do the caliper thingy with a trainer at my gym. But I've found the cheapy scale to be pretty accurate. It's picky though. It requires feet to be clean and slightly damp (according to the instructions.) So I have the scale ready at the end of my shower and I step onto it with my wet feet.
