Checking in to say I haven't done squat (or squats or anything) Ok, bad pun. But yeah, being lazy still.
I'm eating healthily tho. : )
When my friend comes home from Ireland and I am not obligated to go to her apt each evening to take care of cats and a bird, I'll have more time and less excuses.

Have you seen a doctor? Sometimes excessive pressure on the eye can cause "unseen" damage. ha ha - I had eye surgery last year and have another one coming up to prevent a detached retina. Not cool, but better than the alternative.

I'm personally interested, Sarge. What kind of surgery will prevent a detached retina? Laser fusing, perhaps?

Exactly. They caterize (sp?) it with a laser. It freaked me out a little bit, but it's not too bad.

Too clarify, that's what they do to prevent a detached retina. If it becomes detached, that's a whole different ball game.

I know. For a detached retina the doctor used laser first to try to hold things (at the tears?) and prevent it from getting worse. Then I had surgery. I had to stay on my back for three weeks. The fluid had been withdrawn from the eye and gas was inserted to hold the retina in place while it healed. As the gas was slowly replaced by new fluid developed by my body an interesting thing happened. The gas acted as a lens and I was able to focus on the surface of the eye from the inside. It was beautiful as I could see details and all the colors of the surface. But what an experience! The surgeon said that this can happen and he had had other such cases.

When the surgeon heard about my martial arts training, he ordered me to stop immediately. He said that any hard blow to the head or hard fall on the mat could cause the other retina to go. That was four years ago. I told my sensei and he just laughted as he said, "That's no problem. Just don't take the hard blows and the hard falls!" So I mainly just throw the others. The doctor then relented and said, "I guess there are some things that you could learn." But he has gone back saying that I should not be doing it.

I have had some trouble with the other eye and that is why I asked the question. The jell or jelly in the eye began to liquify, due to old age and extreme near-sightedness. This will usually tear the retina. I had to see the doctor every week for two months. the eye stablized and the retina did not tear. Maybe a laser treatment would help to protect it.

Also, I wear a helmet at classes for protection.

My eye doctor told be to wear eye protection with the martial arts. I don't though, ... I just don't get hit! LOL

I don't know if the laser treatment caterization would help your issue. Maybe? My issue is a thin retina that begins to tear.

Thanks. I was wondering why your doctor was suggesting a laser procedure.

My sensei's instructor, who is quite high in many of the arts, was injured twice last year. Accidents can happen. He had to have knee surgery. And he was hit in the eye with a sword. He is now blind in the eye.

I spent the entire day cleaning the house I moved out of. It has a HUGE kitchen with four walls of cupboards. It took me hours just doing the kitchen. I was thinking of an old karate movie.... "wax on, wax off" Still, didn't feel like a workout. I picked up to 15lb hand weights from walmart so that I can do a few exercises even if I can't get to the gym.

Today kind of stunk.

I lifted weights, then helped a friend set-up his satellite dish. Then, went to the gym to do aerobics (the bike), but after 2 minutes stopped and went home.

The previous owners of our home smoked. When we turned on our air conditioner this summer, all that lovely smoke filled our home. Made me sick. Dizzy. Headaches. Nauseous. Makes it tough to work out.

Next week, and another $450 later, it will be cleaned out (hopefully) by a pro. Until then ... fans. Yuck!

Air conditioner rules ba-by. I can't wait!

I feel for you people without air conditioner (though personnaly I like hot and can do without just hit the pool or something). A friend of mine takes care of his elderly mother- their air went out and it was 95+ with 80% humidity. Couldnt afford to get it replaced and the windows wernt made to accomadate a window unit- its been tough for them. His mom is 96 years old.

I hardly don't use my air, well we do use it because everyone else turns it on, but I am the one who turns it down.

No wonder old people go outside get get a heatstroke...you're in a cold house then outside it's 100 degrees...sheeshhh
