HIIT is a pretty cool way to get a fast, yet meaningful workout in.

If you switch to HIIT for a while, then go back to a 45 - 60 minute run, bike, jog, whatever, you will notice a difference.

As an extra bonus, it will make you hike faster uphill as you will be forcing your body to process oxygen faster.

Help!
This HIIT stuff is great, but I must be doing something wrong. The first two minutes work real good, but then sokmething happens. My high speed drops to almost no speed. So then, my low speed is almost as fast or faster than my high speed This makes a problem, as I have trouble identifying which speed I'm doing. Next my short term memory drops out and I no longer have any idea of just where I am in the workout! So I am forced to quit and start everything over again.

No! There are a lot of threads missing above yours. This new system is screwed-up.

I have been getting stronger in advancing further in my swimming plan. My plan is to increase my swims by 500 yards each month until the end of April. I am currently at 1,250 yards. At the end of April I should be swimming two miles. Then, for four months I will work at getting a little more speed and endurance. In September I hope to swim in a chariety swimm 1.4 miles across Providence Harbor at the tip of Cape Cod in Mass. I am increasing my capability slowly because of a weak heart. So far things are going good.

You might have to change your trailname to Nowswimmer! I did the mile swim when I was a kid and it dang near killed me then. I don't think I'd make a quarter mile if I tried it today. Very impressive and good luck with your goal.
