I am still not 100% sure. It's soooo far to drive and my kids now want me to go rock climbing with them (scouts).

Sorry we aren't going to make this one. We, however, will be doing the family thing and we are taking the kids to the Daks for snow tubing.

Mark-O, I still have your saw. I meant to give it back to you on this trip. What do you want to do as far as getting it back. Do you want me to send it?

Wait, I think I am going to see you at the end of the month anyway, right. Not sure if that's a definite. Let me know what you want to do.

Have a great time, everyone!

ENS
I started out with a sore throat like yours on Monday. By last night, I was almost dehydrated with fever and diarrhea. Still fell like crap this morning (no pun intended), but taking that immodium stuff. I'm still planning on being down at Dahlgren Friday afternoon between 3 and 5, so MarkO, techntrek and I will meet up with Spam.

I'll be there for the weekend no problem.

The thought alone of you guys all having the crap is scaring the #&%!$ out of me. {hahahah, that doesn't sound better, but hey...}. lol. Really now... I don't want to get sick, can't get sick! Never get sick, but having like tons of sick people around me might just change that.

that didn't sound right...got to edit...

Question about the route...
....is the route:

40 Alt (Turners Gap) to Hemlock Hill Shelter (Wolfville Road RT17)

40 Alt (Turners Gap) to Foxville Road (RT77)

OR

RT70 to either of the above ending points.

Inquiring minds would like to know....

Thanks Squilax.....

I cant believe how many of us are sicklings! I am still feeling pretty crapiola, but I really really want to come on this trip. Could the cold weather make me that much sicker?

Maybe some good greasy food would bring it all up for those suffering from the gut heavage.

No gut heavage for me. Just snot runnage.

depends on how I feel. I'm feeling even worse today. If I feel better by Friday - Saturday morning I'll be there. If Y2, Gemini, Bison and Embear are going it will be hard to miss this trip. I'm not bailing yet. I'm still a 90% go.

Several people (including me) are bringing firewood for Friday night - allowed or not there will be one.

There are usually fire rings at the shelters. As cold as it is going to be all weekend there will be a fire Saturday night, I'm sure.

That's partly my fault.....no fire in West Vriginia.

I couldn't get out of my sack and give it a try.

It would have been nice to dry my butt on that trip!

See, I think everyone is confused. I have never been on a trip where the details weren't hammered out way in advance. The only points I am sure of:

- most of us will be at Dahlgren Friday night
- offical meet time is 9 am at the Inn
- we'll be doing about 10 miles the whole weekend

Start point? Don't know.
Saturday night camp spot? Don't know.

I've done this area before but still would like to review the data beforehand.

My take....

Start Point = 40/70 parking area just south of Pine Knob shelter.

Campsite Saturday night = Pogo

End Point = Wolfsville OR Foxville Road just north of Hemlock Hill shelter....prolly Wolfsville road to fit within the original 10 mile trek...

Just my take on the matter....but it don't make no never mind to me....

BTW....will there be snow for a bong? Or should I just roll'em....

Stratusloop, there is a line from Shakespeare about a.........."... babe, mewling and puking in his mother's arms...."

I forget which one.

I thought we would be hiking south of Turner's Gap down to the Gathland/Crampton's Gap area because that's where Burkittsville is. (Blair Witch Area)

But this is the first time I've gone out there with a group from TT. I'm familiar with the MD AT from I-70 south to Gathland, so if we head north of I-70 this will be "unexplored territory" for me. We actually pass Black Rock and Annapolis Rocks on the way to Pogo, right?

If we are going to do this northern section, then why not stay at Pine Knob Shelter instead of Dahlgren on Friday night?

I thought we were ending at the Inn, thus the meet spot there on Saturday (and Dahlgren on Friday). If we have a different ending spot then meeting there on Saturday makes no sense.

Hey ScorchFire - this is supposed to be your trip. What's the plan?????

MarkO.....I see the light....

You know...when I was in Stratford-Upon-Avon many moons ago....I seem to remember being kicked in the arse by a mewl or was that a mule....ha ha.....I know...it's corny...

Squilax...

My take is based on what the trip page indicated....something about hiking the section between 77 and 40....but didn't indicate which die-rection....so I made some asssumptions....so you might not want to pay any never mind to me....i'm just babbling on...
