“I thought we were meeting at the Old South Mountain Inn, just east of Boonsboro on ALT US40 - 9 AM Saturday Morning. A bunch of us are going to camp at the Dahlgren BP Campground just south on the AT from the Inn Friday night.

You said something about starting at the "gun club" - Someone else mentioned starting at Gathland, so I'm not sure what exactly is going on, but I'm coming along for the ride anyway!!

I'll have the MD AT map with me - I've hiked a few sections in MD already, just not this one...

BTW - does anyone know if we'll need snowshoes for this hike? I'll have to rent some if we do.

Good news though, for MarkO, PhantomSoul, ENS and techntrek... Picked up a new vehicle on New Year's eve. I definitely have room for the 5 of us, plus our gear. Got an Explorer XLT. Y'all can email me to set up pickup times and locations - I'll be able to handle the crew.

I plan to head out of Lancaster between noon and 1:00 on January 14 so I can be down in the Baltimore beltway area no later than 2 or 2:30. We can narrow down the time frame once everyone gets on board. I am soooooooo looking forward to this! Picked up some trekking poles for Christmas, doesn't look like we'll be needing snowshoes for this one...

I'll wait until I hear from everyone so we can set our travel plans!”

“I am a trail overseer in the Shenandoah and thought that I might want to join in. A couple years back I hiked with novatrek and some other folks from backpacker.com. I will be working on my trails beforehand so could you let me know when and where you will be on friday evening. thanks”

Even with all the dropouts recently, it looks like it will be a big group. Weather here in MD through Sunday calls for rain. Would be nice if the 7-day next Monday didn't show any for the trip weekend.”

“If you're interested - there will be a fair number of folks setting up camp at the Dahlgren Backpacker Campground about 200 or 300 yards south of the Old South Mountain Inn on the AT on Friday night, January 14th. Some of us are planning to be there around 4 PM. I like the idea of eating supper out so we don't have to bring extra food for Friday night, but I guess we'll see how that shakes out with everyone else.”

“We really should try to get a total vehicle count for Friday night so we can let Lisa at the OSM Inn know how many of us will be parked overnight in the back of their parking lot...”

“I could do 6 with packs in my minivan. It might be a little tight but doable. Its only an hour drive from 70/695.

Or, do you have a roof rack on your new SUV? Could put some packs up there and free up some internal room.
