Either way Yodels are way better than swiss rolls. I even thought Little Debbie used to advisertise the chocolate was chocolate flavoring, yuck, and not chocolate. I like ring dings, kind of a flat Yodel, but don't know if it's Drakes or Hostess. Had my first moon pie on a road trip a few years ago in WA. I don't see them in grocery stores, but in little road side stores. Actually, there was a co. that made a moon type pie that sold in stores, but the moon pie has an extra layer of cake in them than that other brand that I don't see anymore. Does anyone remember what they were called?” 3:16:34 PM 10/04/04 “Sounds like you might have gotten a double-decker Moon Pie, LH. Those have three cookies in them, while the regular Moon Pies only have two. One of the major bakeries did make a Moon Pie knockoff, but I can't remember which one.” 3:18:31 PM 10/04/04 “bearmagnet, not so sure about that. I have seen Dr Pepper and Mr Pibb at the same location for sale.” 3:24:07 PM 10/04/04 “Drakes makes Yodels, Ring Dings, Coffee Cakes, Yankee Doodles, Sunny Doodles, etc. Good stuff!!!!!!” 3:25:06 PM 10/04/04 “Godiva Chocolate is so over-rated" Ewker 03:13:07 PM 10/04/04 Ewker.....I am not talking about the chocolate.....I prefer Hershey's........but the cheesecake is unbelievable” 3:29:57 PM 10/04/04 “Whatever... those Godvia Chocolate Raspberry thigns are the BOMB!” 3:33:07 PM 10/04/04 “Hershey chocolate is Alpo compared with the European stuff. Trader Joe's has Pounder Plus chocolate bars. They weigh a half-kilo........Belgian chocolate......great for.......... wait for it...... Backpacking!!!!” 3:33:25 PM 10/04/04 “dangit. now i wanna go eat a bunch of sweets. thanks, guys. ;)” 3:33:30 PM 10/04/04 “Mmmmm, sweets. What are moonpies? I've never seen one.” 3:36:25 PM 10/04/04 “Ewker - I may have my facts jumbled. Mr. Pibb could be a knockoff of Dr. Pepper. Is there a difference?” 3:36:39 PM 10/04/04 “bloodpusher, never knowing about moon pies, I thought the "other" ones were the originals. Maybe one type was on one coast and the other on the opposite coast. I never saw a moonpie on the east coast. Yeah, I would call it a double decker. Those are the only ones I've seen so far in WA. If I had bought just a double layer, I would have been surprised, and pissed off. I like the double layer and would have one as a treat on the way home from an overnight hike from these tiny stores in small towns, very small towns way out in the Olympics. Gotta love those coffee cakes. I like to microwave them. It makes them like they were just baked. Then what does Hostess make? There is a Ding Dong. That may be Hostess.” 3:36:55 PM 10/04/04 3:37:39 PM 10/04/04 “I'm going to eat an apple on my one mile walk home. Go ahead and eat your KrappyKakes. Hoohoohahahahahahahahahahahahahahaahaha” 3:38:01 PM 10/04/04 “I think Hostess makes those cupcakes with the chocolate icing, and the white icing swirl on top. I like those.” 3:38:16 PM 10/04/04 “SWISS ROLLS :):) I'm hungry just thinking about them.” 3:38:45 PM 10/04/04 “I had my apple already.” 3:41:33 PM 10/04/04 “Does apple pie count?” 3:42:35 PM 10/04/04 queston “At the lake, as a treat, my mother in law always has a supply of what we call "little debbies" in the freezer. But if I am following this correctly .. ..Little Debbie is the brand name of the snack maker . ..not the actual snack. Like .. . a Hostess is to Twinkie as Little Debbie is to ??? Anyhooo . . .. The frozens treats are the chocolate roll things . .. .so are those "swiss rolls" They are pretty good. \Has anyone ever dared to try a Deep Fried Twinkie???? A really really chubby chubby boy scout was selling them at our town fair .. . .and I thought . . .there's a life lesson . ..and didn't have one.” 3:44:54 PM 10/04/04 “Now I remember, they were called "Scooter Pies"!!!!!!!! I like this topic so much better than the war one :)” 3:45:39 PM 10/04/04 “I've never had a Deep-Fried Twinkie, but supposedly, they're the "crack cocaine" of the pastry world. So you probably made a good choice there, lee....” 3:46:20 PM 10/04/04 “Oy!! Have you seen the freaks who sell fried dough at carnie fairs? (shudder!!)” 3:48:45 PM 10/04/04 “I like to use Hershey's Syrup sometimes.” 3:49:02 PM 10/04/04 “Isn't calling carnies "freaks" a redundancy?” 3:49:35 PM 10/04/04 “Actually, if they're selling fried dough, one should call them "apprentice freaks".” 3:52:37 PM 10/04/04 BearM “You said: "I like to use Hershey's Syrup sometimes." bearmagnet 03:49:02 PM 10/04/04 boy . . . that's a great story. Of course . ..once we were married and had kids that all went out the window. Here's a word to the wise . . after doing it ahalf dozen times or more DO NOT DO NOT DO NOT fill your mouth with white wine and try to "quench her burning fires" She about popped my head off with her thighs as she rolled off the futon heading for the shower . .. .screaming .. . .and not in pleasure . . .” 3:54:01 PM 10/04/04 “Mister bear brings prurience to all things.” 3:54:06 PM 10/04/04 “and to clarify . ..that second story . ..that was not my wife . . to clarify my clarificatio . .. .it was also before I met my wife.” 3:55:31 PM 10/04/04 “eewwww Lee, that is revolting, LOL!!” 3:56:50 PM 10/04/04 anyhooo “I sure enough like eatin' little debbies* *in the interest of stayin out of jail let me hasten to add, I mean "little" only inthe diminutive sense. All models were at least 18 years of age at the time of this post” 3:57:09 PM 10/04/04 “"clarificatio" Does bearmagnet know that move?” 3:57:58 PM 10/04/04 “LOL! Prurience, MarkO? I ain't no prude! Ain'tcha been listnin???? Chocolate syrup and strawberries are a nice combo. Especially the large, juicy strawberries.” 3:58:22 PM 10/04/04 Prurience “Inordinately interested in matters of sex; lascivious. Characterized by an inordinate interest in sex: prurient thoughts. Arousing or appealing to an inordinate interest in sex: prurient literature” 4:01:16 PM 10/04/04 “Get thee back to sarcasm school, MarkO” 4:02:19 PM 10/04/04 bearmagnet “There is a definite difference between Dr. Pepper and Mr. Pibb. It's like comparing Coke to Pepsi. In fact, I believe Dr P is by Pepsi and Mr P is from Coke.” 4:38:50 PM 10/04/04 “but I think DrP & MrP taste about the same......Pepsi and Coke do NOT taste alike....” 4:44:53 PM 10/04/04 “Methinks Coke stole the Formula and made a dupe but I can't prove it at this time.” 4:49:05 PM 10/04/04 “"DrPepper is the quicker pepper upper.....and it never ever ever lets you down..."” 4:52:13 PM 10/04/04 Dr P and Mr P “To me they are totally different.” 4:54:49 PM 10/04/04 “And what's wrong with fried dough? I think they call them funnel cakes at fairs, but it's popular at Italian fairs and they are called zeppoles. Then you left out the best part. You fry the dough, then put the dough balls in a bag and throw in powdered sugar and shake it around.” 4:55:42 PM 10/04/04 “Dr. Pepper is made with prune juice. Hostess Ding Dongs are the ones that are chocolate with the swirly on top (I think)” 5:05:58 PM 10/04/04 “Go to Straight Dope in regards to the prune juice myth. We called 'em doughboys and they had powdered sugar with a light butter/syrup coating.” 5:08:44 PM 10/04/04 “The Hostess Cupcakes have the swirly white icing on top..... but the chocolate they dip the king dongs and those others is waxy....ewwwwwww....” 5:09:37 PM 10/04/04 “talking about donuts... Krispy Kremes have now appeared in Michigan.. .these things are sinful!!! But the worst offenders are "Paczkis" (I think that's how they are spelled.... they are pronounced "poonch-keys") These are special Polish Jelly or custard donuts.... served on Fat Tuesday (aka Mardi gras) on the last Tuesday before Ash Wednesday of Lent. They are hugely popular in the Detroit Area-- Taste like a jelly donut (or custard donut) but with about 5 tablespoons of lard and 3 times the sugar of a regular donut.... The last lustful indulgence before the 6 weeks (40 days) of Lent (or your massive heart attack.) Of course, if you're not Catholic, you can buy the "day olds" the day after and have a ball eating them....” 5:10:41 PM 10/04/04 “Try the krispy kreme cream filled chocolte iced ones....YUMMMMM” 5:14:01 PM 10/04/04 “I finally had Crispy Creme come to my area. I didn't care for them. The donuts were a little too mushy. For anyone who has not been to one, they give you a donut when you wait on line. I don't know if they always do that, but I only wanted one donut, so after I got the free one, I felt I had to stay on line out of guilt.” 5:15:56 PM 10/04/04 “Lipstick-- I think that they always give the free donuts. I've only been in 3 Krispy Kremes, but I think whenever they are actually frying the donuts, they'll give you the free ones. I like the bavarian cream filed with chocolate icing myself. The only other donut shop I can compare them to is Dunkin donuts and I think the Krispy Kremes are better.” 5:20:07 PM 10/04/04 “Fudge Rounds are so delectable!” 5:22:02 PM 10/04/04 “pink, I got into these "cake" type donuts I tried for the first time a few years ago, but the best ones I had of that type was from a privately owned place that's 3 hours from my house.” 5:23:24 PM 10/04/04 “lipstick--the best "cake" donuts are ones hot from the fryer at my local cider mill... A hot cinnamon cake donut, a glass of fresh squeezed apple cider and a chilly autumn day... what a combo!” 5:25:37 PM 10/04/04 “pink, I checked out your bio. Michigan is too far to travel to:)” 5:31:32 PM 10/04/04
