I didn't read it all yet, but thought it was interesting that they would profile a part of the AT. Article.

Interesting piece, thanks!

"Playground for adults" is a great description. It's great fun, and its not that hard really - if you are reasonably flexible and not in a hurry. Some of the older (post-retirement) thru-hikers I met near there had a real hard time.

It's incredibly cool in there - I had to put on a head band and some fleece in Mid-August.

Well... there goes the neighborhood.

Did I ever mention that I made it through without taking off my pack?

Thanks for the link. Nice article.

Yeah, its a pretty nice spot. It's apain in the arse but I'd call it the slowest mile on the Trail, maybe not the toughest. The bummer is that, for NoBo's, when you're done w/ scraping and crawling your way through the Notch you then have to go up Mahoosuc Arm, a sadistic climb. IMHO, the Mahoosuc Range is the toughest on the AT.

I don't know how you managed not taking your pack off, Violin. I did a few times. I almost broke my arm in there, too. Slippery when wet. There were pockets of ice underneath in late June.

Peace.
MM.
