OK, I seem to have a problem. I have what look like chicken pox all over my legs. It cannot be that because I have already had them. Little red bumps that itch like hell all over.

It all started last Thursday. I have no idea what triggered it. I know it is not posion ivy.

Anyone help?

You might as well just take the black capsule now....

Actually, I think it may be possible to get them again. Not sure about that. Are they spreading?

Chicken herpes? Did you get over heated lately? Could be a rash of some kind. Like heat bumps.

Could be fleas. They hate me but eat up my wife and kids.

You can get chicken pox again once your an adult, but you'd prolly have a pretty good fever to go with it.

COuld be chiggers, or fleas.

bomb the house and see what happens.

paint a few places with clear nail polish, (unless you like color) if they go away in about 24 hours, paint the rest.

Never had chiggers. I would have gotten this while at Mammoth Cave SEPT 22-25. Does it lat dormant that long?

There is no fever, just little red itchy bumps. All over my legs, front and back and a few on my back.

I was wearing shorts on that trip and it was especially hot that night in the sack.

Now quit bragging.

I think a heat rash would have been immediately noticeable.

Have you made any changes to your laundry detergent? It could be an allergic reaction.

sounds like a reaction to something. Lather on the benadryl.

Have not switched the detergent and I have been using the benadryl.

This all started Thursday night after I picked up my tux. I had to try it on there to make sure it fit. I woke myself up early friday morning scratching myself like a hound dog with flees.

Your tux or a rented tux?

If you get chickenpox again, then it's from another source and you are one of those very rare cases in which you didn't develop immunity.

Or maybe...
Remember when you were a little kid, and you first learned about allergies? Then, you claimed that you were allergic to someone you didn't like?

Maybe that person rented this tux before and you're just reacting to them.

Chiggers
That was what the Doc said last night. He took one look at my legs and knew right away. He said, "You have been out in the woods receintly, huh."

He gave me 3 kinds of medicine and sent me on my way.

Where does one get chiggers?

Anyone answers with the "woods" or "outside" will get beeyotch slapped.

I'm speaking geographically. They must be prelevent in some areas and not others, yes?

Glad to hear you found out the source of your rash-- hopefully, it will heal soon!

Ew... the rented tux thing brings to mind what one of my friends told me.

She used to work at a local department store where their policy was to take back clothing only if the tags were stil on them...

Someone brought back a dress and when it was put on the rack and sold, the 2nd owner came back to the store and complained about getting a severe rash.....

Turns out she was allergic to formaldehyde. Someone had laid out their dead relative in the dress and then had the gall to return it to the store!!!!

You should come to the Adirondacks then. The black flies there have numbers panted on their wings and are known to carry off small dogs.

Bloodypuller - Are they in the Smokies? Does DEET work on them? I hope to do the Smokies soon.

Never been to the Smokies, so I dunno. I don't know if DEET works on them either, but I think the only thing that really works well is denial, that is, long clothing. They're pretty much a warm season thing though.

no blackflies in the smokies, chiggers perhaps, but only in the summer.

Nothing works on black flies. I have been up in Canada at the height of black fly season and there is nothing you can do. They bite through clothes and sting like hell. I have found once they land on you, let them bite and swat them.

i found one thing works on blackflies - smashing them.

I thought blackflies were bad until I had the pleasure of becoming a Horse Fly meal in Glacier.

Though they don't swarm like blackflies.

I had a similar experience with deer flies. My arms looked like raw hamburger when I left the woods. They are also much faster than black flies. I was probably hiking at a 3+mph pass and it did nothing to keep them from catching me.

My first experience with blackflies was in the 'dacks. I had always gone there after the season. One year, the season was a little extended beyond expectations.

I was sitting in camp at dusk when I noticed these leetle flies on my legs. They seemed to be coming from the ground. Thought they were "normal" flies until they started "kissing" my legs.

They must be prelevent in some areas and not others, yes?

They're here in the midwest, and can last until the first frost. Deet works wonders against them. So does long clothing - IF you can remove them in a fair amount of time. In fact, even deet soaked clothes shouldn't be worn for hours after exposure (at least in the peak season).

Clear nail polish on the bites are supposed to kill them and stop the itching. I've tried it, and it worked for me, but it could've been placebo effect.

sooo...i don't wanna go to the doc with my knee...not if i can avoid it.

pain started saturday after about 20 or 21 miles of hiking, lots of down hill. It started to become pretty bad by the 23rd mile. Pain meds didn't help or at least they don't seam to help.

No change sunday and monday or today.
Both legs are swollen [and I mean SWOLLEN to a HUGE size], only the left knee hurts.

Oh, the knee only hurts while hiking down hill. Knife stab like pain to the left side. Feels like 2 areas are getting stabbed to the outer left side of my left knee. yeah...I feel the pain all the way into my knee I guess...I can't really say because it's so painful.

after I completed a downhill hike, once in a while it still hurts while hiking on even ground, but after bending my leg a couple times it disappears.

But yeah...it's a pretty bad pain. from a scale from 1 to 10, I would say a 7 or 8 [with 10 being hmm...lets say child birth like pain]

you're gonna tell me to go to the doctor right??
