Snow Leopard has Mountainsmith bags 1t 40% off today. I don't know how long it will last, but I'm tempted.

I take it these are good bags. I do not know a lot about bags, but I would assume that the price of these things will tell you if it is good or not.

I have a 40 degree and a 20 and have never been cold. I will probably need to get a new bag in a couple of years, but have no idea what to get.

How about that! Just the thread I was hoping to find today. Anybody want to offer a gear report on these bags? I need to get my son a bag for Philmont next summer and his birthday is coming up.

He wants to use my Western Mountaineering bag, but no dang way. lol

The Mountainsmith bags may be a step down from WM, Marmot, and FF, but they are still very good bags. At those prices, you are getting a lot of sleeping bag for the $.

I own 2 Mountainsmith packs, but none of their bags. Their rep is what hubcap says, they are one step down the top of the line Western Mountaineering bags and FF (I might say on the same level as Marmot), but are excellent lightweight bags. They aren't the BMW of the market, but maybe the Acura or Lexus?

I came very close to getting the Wisp last near, but decided I wanted a full length zip on my summer bag (went with the WM caribou - which I loved). Mountainsmith's colder weather bags have full length zips.

I have the Mountainsmith Chimera pack, which I love. Great product. If the bags are as good as the packs, then I think this is a great price. I think I will get him the Wisp. I have the WM Megalite, which is about the same price for the Wisp at full price.

Thanks for the link Ped.

Mountainsmith Deals
Hey All -

I actually work for Snow Leopard and I couldn't believe the deals they were offering on these bags. I saw some questions about how long it was lasting, so I checked for you and it ends next monday (or when they sell out). They sold 40 bags today on the first day, so I'm not sure what's gonna be left by monday, but I wanted to pipe in and let you know it's real and happening. Thanks all. Happy trails!
