Wind Walker®, I'm really lookin' forward to a wild and whacky photo trip! No thunder stolen, I love to see awesome pics! I think we both take pics for the same reason... not to suggest we are good with the camera, but to capture the best we can the glory of God's amazing creation. And man 'o man did you capture a glorious moment with this shot! It's been a while since I've had such a "wow" factor looking at a photograph. Everything came together for this shot and you were there. I love driving the General's Highway in the winter when the Central Valley is socked in with fog. Rising above the fog is like looking over the sea. This is very dramatic and colorful at sunset. In many ways I miss living in Clovis. It's good to hear you shot this in RAW mode, if you were using a tripod you should be able to get a very large blow up of this image with incredible resolution!

WW, fantastic!! 17-40 mm. I'm jealous. I did get a relatively inexpensive, relatively lightweight tripod. It's too heavy (2.3 or 4 lbs) for long trips, but will do great for outings/short trips.
