Please!
They are not only annoying, but a lot of us post at work and don't want to get into trouble. Yes, I know I could just "mute" but that is a pain in the butt and doesn't work if listening to a cd or internet radio.

Can you do something???

Thank you!

Soldering iron, pet ionic hair brush thingy, the First Alert alarm and another one I can't remember.

Thanks man! Otherwise the new site rocks! We really do appreciate all that you do for us.

Sorry, that was just me talking through your computer speakers. Hey, you guys were on the do-not-call telemarketing list so this was the only way I could get in contact with you regarding these amazing products. Buy a couple things and I'll scratch you off my list, k? Buy three items and I'll throw in the fourth for free. Wait, there's more... act now and I'll throw in a veggie slicer for free! Yes, you heard me right. Order now, or I'll hack into your network and mirror your Trail Talk® screen on every monitor at your place of employment. GET YOUR CREDIT CARD OUT AND GET A MOVE ON! PRONTO! Kidding, it really wasn't me. Honest.

Sarge, sorry man, it was my sincere intention to be #857336 on this site, so give me that number and all the bennies that go along with it. Let's keep this out of the court system.

Roam, to verify the winner they must check your computer for the correct bytes and bits. If your hard drive doesn\'t have the right bit, they must aquit.

(sorry in advance, couldn\'t help myself)

I found that if I don't have my yahoo radio playing, the ads play. If I try to turn my radio on, it won't play until after the ad has run its course. GRRRRRRRRR

It seems that if I have my yahoo radio playing from the beginning, then the ads don't start.

Perhpas I just need to keep the radio on, but muted.

Strange... It wasn't until after I read this thread that I got a "talking" ad.

It was for First Alert.

Fortunately, I'm at home. And, the only person it startled was me.

I think I finally tracked them down.

Spirit Coyote, I also use a pop-up stopper that is built into Firefox. But just remember, that ads pay the bills for thebackpacker.com. All you talkers use a lot of computer resources.

Hey, whatever you need to pay the bills, Matt. If I have to turn the sound down, then say the word. I can live with the inconvenience if this is what it takes to keep you going.

I do have some standards when it comes to ads. I won't use ads that talk or are intrusive. I don't do pop-ups (but I do use one pop-under on other parts of the site, but keep that between you and me). I've learned over the years that ads can cause your visitors to leave, so you better make the visitor happy.

Ouch! the soldering iron tool just burnt me twice. I just have to fix that connection on my guitar. But I don't have a guitar!

Nowslimmer, I use four different companies to sell ads for the site, so I have to track down the ads and turn them off.

Thanks Matt. I should have added "LOL" to that post.

Another one is about pet odors!

I usually have music playing on the computer. Otherwise I have volume "OFF" and "Mute" that work. It's your site (and a great one), so you do your own thing. Everything is fine at this end.
