I can ping both of those so they're valid names.” 6:29:01 PM 11/29/05 “Outlook is quite flexible. I had my laptop at one point configured to access both my personal and work mail accounts.” 6:30:07 PM 11/29/05 “In the email accounts setting window, I have input everything it asks for. When I click "test account settings," I get an error message telling me "send test e-mail message: Unable to send test message: please verify the e-mail adress field."” 6:32:06 PM 11/29/05 “In order to send an email you have to enter your email address -- the email address that will appear in the 'from' line. Have you entered that correctly.” 6:35:12 PM 11/29/05 “yep rechecked it over and over now” 6:37:03 PM 11/29/05 “Hmmmm....” 6:38:16 PM 11/29/05 “That's what I said. Maybe I'll throw in the towel. I even tried the reboot trick. But still no dice.” 6:39:32 PM 11/29/05 “Try reading this help page and see if it answers any of your questions. http://help.yahoo.com/help/us/sbc/bizmail/pop/pop-27.html” 6:44:16 PM 11/29/05 “Thanks much, Leo. I will check that out later when I return home. Have to go now to pick up my kids.” 7:03:31 PM 11/29/05 “No problem, anytime.” 7:05:08 PM 11/29/05 “In Outlook: Tools/E-Mail Accounts.../View or Change existing e-mail accounts Select the e-mail account and press the Change button. Have you entered your password correctly under "Logon Information"? Click on More Settings button, click on Outgoing Server tab Does your outgoing server require authentication? Click on Advanced tab Does your incoming (POP)or outgoing (SMTP) server require authentication? Is it using a different port than 110 for POP and 25 for SMTP? Also under the advanced Tab under Delivery, you can choose to leave the messages on the server or not. I would make sure the box is unchecked on your primary computer with Outlook and have the box checked on all other computers with Outlook where you check this e-mail account. If you check your e-mail using a web browser, the mail will usually stay on the server (unless you delete it using the web browser interface) until you connect from a computer where the box is unchecked, meaning delete msgs. on the server once delivered. Hopefully, you'll find the information from Leofric's link. If not, I would try and contact Yahoo Customer Care by clicking the button at the bottom of the page. You should find the information you need to properly setup Outlook 2003 here: http://help.yahoo.com/help/us/sbc/bizmail/pop/pop-22.html” 7:57:20 PM 11/29/05 “Heya Rubes, here's what ya need :) http://help.yahoo.com/help/us/sbc/bizmail/pop/pop-28.html last edited: 11/29/05 8:17:37 PM” 8:17:09 PM 11/29/05 “Skiracer, you rock! I clicked the requires authentication and now it works just fine. Thank you thank you thank you! And thanks for all you other Santa's little helpers. You TT people always are there to help me when I need it. I wish someone asked for advice about a topic I know well.” 8:52:41 PM 11/29/05 “Ruby, I'm glad that worked. It's something most people don't think about. And yet, another satisfied (although non-paying) client. Now, I've got to figure a way to get more paying clients. Maybe you can do a testimonial, Ruby. ;-)” 10:21:46 PM 11/29/05 “I most definitely would! And if you send me an invoice, I'll pay it. Would you take a cold beer or two?” 11:48:47 PM 11/29/05 “*Laughing* No invoice, Ruby. It's all about client relationships. I'll take you up on the cold beer if I get to Chicago anytime soon.” 5:41:12 AM 11/30/05 “Well, it's really a software problem. When I bought my new notebook, I had ordered Microsoft Office but it was not installed when I received my computer. After calling Fujitsu, they sent me the install CD which I then installed with no problem. I'd like to have the Office software on one of my other computers, but I think the CD was labeled one-computer use. (I can't find it at the moment, so this all might be a moot point) If I load it, will it work? Will anything bad happen?” 9:44:15 PM 1/17/06 “Most likely it's a single-computer product. Check the EULA to be sure. If it's single-computer, and you install it on another computer, the activation won't work. From the Microsoft site: "You can run non expiring versions of Office products up to 50 times without activating them. If you cannot activate the product, the programs will start to run in a reduced-functionality mode. In reduced-functionality mode, you cannot save modifications to documents or create a new document and additional functionality may be reduced."” 10:34:57 PM 1/17/06 open office “I'd put open office on the other computer, it's an open source office suite and free I've been using it for a while and like it. www.openoffice.org” 11:43:08 PM 1/17/06 THANKYOU “i only made this account to thank you RYNO, i accepted an msdos file named crazy frog or something and it caused so much problems on my computor, after a while i phoned dell, and they ran me through this sort of system restore not rebuild though...anyway it stopped the problems but my computors started freezing a lot. i looked around and noticed a file called "crazy" on my c drive. i looked in it and it went onto a website with the crazy frog. i opened it up in note pad and found the author to be 's-k-y-d-e-v-i-l'" i searched it in ask jeeves and found this trail...i read your post AND THANKYOU FOR SENDING THAT SYMNATEC THING!!! ahh...once again, thanks ryno.” 3:01:59 PM 1/26/06 “ ![]() last edited: 1/26/06 3:18:12 PM” 3:14:12 PM 1/26/06 “GO back to the beginning of the thread TH, all will be made clear.” 3:29:31 PM 1/26/06 “That looks like two pancakes to me.” 3:30:09 PM 1/26/06 “that'll take too much effort ;)” 3:32:31 PM 1/26/06
