“Thanks MM. The snow pix were of particular interest to me. As I get closer to my turn on the roller coaster, it's getting harder and harder to sit still. The vicarious fuel I get from things such as this keep me going. Great job!”

“Great pics. I particularly liked the two as you approach Katahdin from afar. The first one it's just a smear on the horizon, the second it's bold against a lake in the foreground. When you climb stuff in the south it's sort of a "boom, there it is." You got to view your goal over a few days as you grew closer. Very cool.

In LOTR the tone of the book picks up as they finally view the Mtn in the distance. The whole intensity changes and then they're there. Your pics seemed to have the same feel.”

“Wow... looked at several pics.. It's amazing.. you guys don't look like you changed much actually.. both look fresh at the beginning.. and fresh (not haggered) at the end. Almost like a photo shoot where they drove you to Georgia, and then to Maine. :)

I carried a nice little radio from Brookstone. It took a beating, had good battery life, and good reception. Lately I've seen this little FM Radio/ 256 MB MP3 player from Samsung that I really wish I had with me. It's a little bigger than a AAA battery, smaller and lighter than the radio I had with me. Only 15 hrs batt life, though. There were songs from my collection I wanted to hear from time to time (Tool, old Metallica, Grateful Dead, Reggae - nice mix, huh) that the MP3 could've given me. Rio makes an MP3/FM Radio a little bigger than an AA battery w/ 512 MB and 40 hrs batt life. Niiiiiice. Oh well. Next thru-hike, right?”

“Im a newbie on here, but I just spent a while and read all the captions to your pictures from your AT Thru-hike. Looked like an awesome journey! Hopefully when I get out of college I can find a job that allows me some time off to do all that hiking. All those pics have me all inspired today..Life is good! ;-)”

“Deltahiker - You don't need a job, just get one more big school loan and buy backpacking gear with it. Drop out and hike the rest of your life. The retirement sucks, but it's the best career in the world. One day you'll drop dead on some lonely trail and become compost for a forest floor, thus returning as much value to the earth as most of us do with our more traditional endeavors. Okay? Get on with it.”

“Ahh, Lehigh Gap. Nice climb you have there. We had such high spirits coming over that mountain because it is so different from everything around it. The reason it's different is kind of depressing but it was big fun.”

“The north bound side is actually not the superfund site. Its before the Gap on the
shelter side. But you cant see it unless
you blue blaze by the shelter. The pics you
have are lots of rocky area and trees that were destroyed by numerous fires. (big one last year) They have been re-seeding the fund site and its mostly green now with trees.”
