My AT pics, new website are upView Messages“Hey folks. Just wanted to let anyone interested know that my website is now updated and includes pics from my AT thru-hike. Let me know of any problems/opinions re: the site. The AT pics were taken with disposable cameras so quality is marginal at times. Every one is a memory, though. Thanks for your interest. http://www.milemonster.net” 12:17:07 AM 10/09/04 “simply awesome, you are a lucky man!! Here's ta many more miles for all of us!!” 1:09:41 AM 10/09/04 “I'll have to check it out later when I'm on broadband.” 2:58:51 AM 10/09/04 “Thanks for posting. I'll check them out this morning.” 5:50:03 AM 10/09/04 “Very nice pic of Overmtn Shelter. I have the same shot taken in August. Yours looks a bit different.” 5:59:46 AM 10/09/04 “Thanks MM. The snow pix were of particular interest to me. As I get closer to my turn on the roller coaster, it's getting harder and harder to sit still. The vicarious fuel I get from things such as this keep me going. Great job!” 7:29:57 AM 10/09/04 “Great pics. I particularly liked the two as you approach Katahdin from afar. The first one it's just a smear on the horizon, the second it's bold against a lake in the foreground. When you climb stuff in the south it's sort of a "boom, there it is." You got to view your goal over a few days as you grew closer. Very cool. In LOTR the tone of the book picks up as they finally view the Mtn in the distance. The whole intensity changes and then they're there. Your pics seemed to have the same feel.” 7:38:19 AM 10/09/04 “MM, all your shots were awesome! Great captions too, you should be very proud!!” 7:45:24 AM 10/09/04 “MM...nice site. Thanks for sharing the pics. Your PA pics bring back nice memories.” 8:14:09 AM 10/09/04 “wow, What a cache of pics. We shall hike again! Jer Yo bear!” 8:14:46 AM 10/09/04 “very nice... congrats on the thru hike : )” 8:18:55 AM 10/09/04 “that rock hikine looked soooo fun :) worth every step I bet :D” 8:44:43 AM 10/09/04 “MM...any chance at seeing you at Cumberland Gap, bring the missus and your ma!” 9:34:49 AM 10/09/04 “awesome!” 10:13:34 AM 10/09/04 “Awesome!” 12:01:41 PM 10/09/04 “DOH !! Baume just said that !! LOL Still awesome...” 12:02:14 PM 10/09/04 “Cool Deal! {VBG} -- Big fan of the Tonto, here... Ya just can't beat that view across the river to Vishnu!” 12:49:26 PM 10/09/04 “Great pics. Green with envy is the color of the day.” 1:40:31 PM 10/09/04 “excellent pics MM, congrats to you and DN. You lived out a lot of people's dreams.” 9:31:27 PM 10/09/04 “ttt” 7:33:48 AM 10/11/04 “Hey, hey. Thanks for all the props, folks. I apologize for not responding but I've been out of town. I'm going to post more data on the AT thru when I can. I was just glad to get the mjor stuff up. For those without broadband, were the pic file sizes acceptable? I just got back tonight but I'm tossing around the TC2 idea. Maybe I can ride up with Tilt. Peace. MM.” 10:14:55 PM 10/13/04 “thanks for sharing, mm. i've only had a chance to go through half the pictures, but have enjoyed them so far. great captions. and congrats again. : )” 10:21:52 PM 10/13/04 “I've been enjoying your trip. So cool to see the family togetherness and support. Thanks for sharing!” 11:00:55 PM 10/13/04 “BTW, I meant TC4 up there, not TC2.” 6:46:59 AM 10/14/04 “I added my gear list to the site. As always, comments welcome. Peace. MM.” 10:38:41 PM 10/25/04 10:41:01 PM 10/25/04 “Wow... looked at several pics.. It's amazing.. you guys don't look like you changed much actually.. both look fresh at the beginning.. and fresh (not haggered) at the end. Almost like a photo shoot where they drove you to Georgia, and then to Maine. :) Incredible journey it must have been. Hope I can hang out with you sometime, and get to hear the stories from the trail. Good look on your website. It looks promising! Again, congratulations on your 2000 mile journey.” 7:17:12 AM 10/26/04 “MM - car talk rocks! last edited: 10/26/04 7:38:40 AM” 7:29:14 AM 10/26/04 “I swear on a stack of bibles that I didn't get driven from Georgia to Maine, lol. You got that right, Dayhiker. Car Talk was a weekly highlight from the "civilized" world.” 7:57:16 AM 10/26/04 “A radio! I can picture myself lying by the campfire listending to "A Prairie Home Companion", or some good blue grass. Now I've got to research radios, lol.” 8:04:20 AM 10/26/04 “Snake Eyes - seems like I saw on a board one time where you can make one that weighs about an ounce. I want to say it was backpackinglight.net. MM - well, you did wear the same t-shirt and shorts in all the pictures.” 8:19:01 AM 10/26/04 “Did they make it out of a Pepsi can?” 8:22:55 AM 10/26/04 “Bubble gum and a tootpick.” 8:25:05 AM 10/26/04 “I hear you can make a stove out of a pepsi can. Isn't that amazing?” 8:25:28 AM 10/26/04 “Duct tape, your aluminum backpack stay, and some copper coil, lol. I carried a nice little radio from Brookstone. It took a beating, had good battery life, and good reception. Lately I've seen this little FM Radio/ 256 MB MP3 player from Samsung that I really wish I had with me. It's a little bigger than a AAA battery, smaller and lighter than the radio I had with me. Only 15 hrs batt life, though. There were songs from my collection I wanted to hear from time to time (Tool, old Metallica, Grateful Dead, Reggae - nice mix, huh) that the MP3 could've given me. Rio makes an MP3/FM Radio a little bigger than an AA battery w/ 512 MB and 40 hrs batt life. Niiiiiice. Oh well. Next thru-hike, right?” 8:42:02 AM 10/26/04 INCREDIBLE “Im a newbie on here, but I just spent a while and read all the captions to your pictures from your AT Thru-hike. Looked like an awesome journey! Hopefully when I get out of college I can find a job that allows me some time off to do all that hiking. All those pics have me all inspired today..Life is good! ;-)” 8:42:27 AM 10/26/04 “Deltahiker - You don't need a job, just get one more big school loan and buy backpacking gear with it. Drop out and hike the rest of your life. The retirement sucks, but it's the best career in the world. One day you'll drop dead on some lonely trail and become compost for a forest floor, thus returning as much value to the earth as most of us do with our more traditional endeavors. Okay? Get on with it.” 8:56:38 AM 10/26/04 “Nice website! I spent about 20 minutes looking through pictures as well as you gear list. I could probably spend the rest of the day looking. Thanks for sharing!” 9:16:30 AM 10/26/04 “Good job on the hike. I filed some of the rocks down this year in PA. Did you notice ?? LOL I live right by Lehigh Gap.” 9:50:23 AM 10/26/04 “Ahh, Lehigh Gap. Nice climb you have there. We had such high spirits coming over that mountain because it is so different from everything around it. The reason it's different is kind of depressing but it was big fun.” 2:41:24 PM 10/26/04 “The north bound side is actually not the superfund site. Its before the Gap on the shelter side. But you cant see it unless you blue blaze by the shelter. The pics you have are lots of rocky area and trees that were destroyed by numerous fires. (big one last year) They have been re-seeding the fund site and its mostly green now with trees.” 3:44:09 PM 10/26/04 “Updated my site. Added food and resupply info.” 10:47:27 PM 11/13/04 10:49:30 PM 11/13/04 “MileMonster, thanks. I just spent Sat evening as an armchair AT hiker.” 12:10:05 AM 11/14/04 “Nice site - cool that you did the AT with your Mom.” 7:35:15 PM 11/14/04 “Very nice.... Thanks for sharing.” 7:46:40 PM 11/14/04 “The site is well put together. Nice, very nice pics. Yes, Coop it is totally cool! What brand of shoes is your Mom wearing?” 7:49:19 PM 11/14/04 “Much thanks, everyone. My Mom wore a pair of North Face somethings. They were a goretex, trail runner type.” 8:42:29 PM 11/14/04 “I like the site, MM, very clean. Great job!” 9:01:51 PM 11/14/04 “I just updated again. Added mileage data pages - lots of info on Trail miles. http://www.milemonster.net” 10:02:48 PM 11/14/04
