My Trip Report

“So Rainrunner and me got a very early start this morning...our plan was that finally, finally we would get a backpacking trip into the North Cascades before the end of the alpine backpacking year....
It was actually starting to look nice...until we hit the Mts near Mt. baker, and then the rain, then the snow. It was below freezing with the wind added. yikes! 5 minutes outside and I was ready to be put in a coffin...sigh! Third time this year like that at Baker!! Dangit!!
So bailing, we went and got the second latte of the day...and started home. We drove around 350 miles today and hiked ZERO miles. Sigh!
But! Then the fun started :-D
We stopped at the huge Super Wal-Mart on I-5 near Everet, Wa and loaded up on hard to find stuff (The hamburger, the small packs of salmon, those new Crystal Light To Go packs.....). Super centers are not common in Wa state, so if your driving by, it is worth the time to stop for us.
Then we went to Claim Jumpers and porked out...agh! So good, so ready for naptime! But no, we went shopping at REI in Redmond - Yuppieville! ;-)
Got new Sahara pants on sale (I found a hole in mine today...weeee!)
Drooled over new snowshoes. Wasted a lot of a rainy day :-D

So, did YOU go out in the snow today? That's what I thought, wuss.”

She is one of my main hiking partners (otherwise I hike with Dicentra).
She hangs out here sometimes - ya just haven't said hi to her yet ;-)”

“A few of the things I miss in Ohio....my daughter...and SNOW......hey sounds like ya had a GREAT road trip....I take those crystal light packs everywhere I go now....I love the peach tea....and it goes GREAT with peach scnapps...yummm......”

“I love the snow...I can't wait for snowshoeing season to start .. it is that shoulder season where it is rainy and snowy and bad wind that makes a fire and a cup of coffee sound soooo good ;-)
If we had been in my truck I wouldn't have minded-I carry chains & have 4 wheel drive and am expiernced with them.
