I was thinking of figuring out some kind of loop to do..still have to hit the guide book. Will come up with something if you all are interested. I just think it is about time to see for myself how "Tough" those eastern mountains are. :D”

Well, not much anyway. I was thinking we would do a 17 mile loop in the Great Smokey Mountains using the Big Creek/Swallow Fork/Mount Sterling Ridge/Baxter Creek trails. Seems to hold good veiws, rock formations, large virgin forest trees, lots of water, waterfalls, great views and a night at a tower on top of a mountian (We use campsite s #37 and #38. #38 is up a short spur trail to the top of mount sterling. I would scan the map so you all could see what I am talking about but have to get mike to reinstall the scanner.
Yes, there IS some elevation gain and loss in this hike..... but I promise it won't be that bad...well its not as bad as the trinity alps (and you can take comfort in that!!!...no 5000' raise in elevation in 5 miles for us lol) I will try to see what it looks like if I down load it into my gps from map quest.

“Luckily I have an image stabilized 630mm zoom lens we us guys don't actually HAVE to be with the party to enjoy the view of the swimming hole.”

“Ruby there is going to be lots of water...a good time to practice stream crossings as the big creek area is a major watershed. Big creek is probebly swimmable lol not sure if there are swimming holes though. I chose that area cause everything I read said its a very good and one of the most scenic areas but not as heavily used :)

I agree with the no guys thing too. I hope it stays that way but I want as amy to go as possible
