“I'm considering buying some topo software if I can confirm it has info I'm looking for. Can someone tell me if foot, horse, mt bike trails are shown or only roads ?”

“I have the National Geographic Topo! software for CA and WY. It shows trails and roads. It does not specify users, e.g. bike, hike, horse.
I'm not sure if it has all the roads. I was looking for ways to avoid traffic, and there were so few road options in a particular city that I think it may not have all the roads.”

“It has whatever roads are on the USGS topo maps. Most of those are not up to date in one way or another. If you go to the help menu, I think you click on one of those options and it tells you the date of the map.”

“I think stick/2socks mentioned that Maptech had the best software with the most detailed topography. You might try them.”
