One of those last of the season hikes! “On tuesday many of the roads at Rainer NP get closed for the season....so Rainrunner, Ford and me headed up to Mowich Lake..which is one of the most remote corners of the park...due to it being located in BFE and being a dirt road for like umpteen miles. And no snack bars or gift shops. ;-) Nice weather today (ie no rain or snow coming down....) The snow was new in the mts though-6,000 ft and above was white. :-) We headed off on the Wonderland Trail towards Ispuit Pass, our goal was Eunice Lake and Tolmie Peak. We of course went up to Ispuit Pass and took a gander into the fall colors. (When we did the Wonderland this summer we didn't do Ispuit Pass so it was nice to see it.) We got to the lake and kicked back, had a hot lunch :-D (It is how we try out new recipes for backpacking!) The fall colors are just really sweet now too. Ford is battling another cold, so I told Rainy to run to Tolmie - and wow can she. She booked it up there in like 10 minutes? I watched her with the binocs....lol! Had a sweet hike out.... Thanks Rainy, for letting me say goodbye to fall in alpine bliss ;-) Photos: http://community.webshots.com/album/198664908rfVENW?673” 10:26:25 PM 10/10/04 11:51:36 PM 10/10/04 “Great pictures!!! soo...you gals are coming out to the smokies next may right?” 6:24:51 AM 10/11/04 “Smokies?
