MPEG/Powerpoint QuestionView MessagesViewing posts 1 to 22 of 22 messages posted.
“I used the Abbott and Costello avi file to create an animated Powerpoint presentation as a tutorial for 18 people here at work, but after loading it up with all sorts of stuff.. I'm having synchonization issues now, due to video refresh rates, and overall size of the files (avi, animated gifs, custom animation, etc) involved. Any suggestions for how to modify parts of it to make it run correctly? I can send the .PPT to anyone who needs it, and can supply whatever information you need. I'm thinking that the AVI format is equivalent to the BMP format in regards to file efficency, and size.. but modifying to a MPEG-1 didn't seem to help. I need a little more knowledge to get where I need to go with this. Are there any experts on this subject? Bitpusher?.. ??..” 10:20:07 AM 10/13/04 “Sorry, don't know anything about PowerPoint, AVI, or MPEG-1....” 10:23:07 AM 10/13/04 “don't know if I can help much, but I do work with PPT occasionally.... Maybe it's your computer's speed? Also, are your links in the same folder or CD as your PPT? Did you save it as a PPS (power point show)?” 10:23:23 AM 10/13/04 “Pinkbublez: I'm sure it's my computer's speed.. but hey.. it's all I have to use, you know? There are no links.. powerpoint imports all objects into the same file. Yes, the PPS helped some.. but I'm not happy with it.” 10:25:45 AM 10/13/04 “have you changed the slide timing? (i.e. how long each slide plays?)” 10:28:07 AM 10/13/04 “It's one slide.” 10:33:54 AM 10/13/04 “?? 1 slide? what do you mean-- the show is 1 slide long?” 10:36:53 AM 10/13/04 “ya.. it runs 6 minutes.” 10:38:12 AM 10/13/04 “Oh........... Maybe that is the problem? if you send it to me, I'll test it on my computer (a MAC Powerbook)-- perhaps it is just the speed of your computer that's making it run so long...?” 10:39:28 AM 10/13/04 “Town Dawg... I sent you an email.” 10:43:04 AM 10/13/04 10:43:18 AM 10/13/04 “oh.. ok.. brb.” 10:43:34 AM 10/13/04 “667.kb sent.” 10:46:49 AM 10/13/04 “When I originally started.. all the timings worked perfectly.. but as I kept adding more and more stuff.. my timings started drifting.” 10:48:12 AM 10/13/04 “and it is supposed to run 6 minutes... that's not the problem.. the AVI is six minutes long.. it's the synchonization between all of the elements on the slide.” 11:00:51 AM 10/13/04 “Hi Town, Try making it into multiple slides? See if you can have each animation come in on a different slide. Don't know if the animations are supposed to be that way, but I keep getting pictures with the © sign on them?” 12:18:28 PM 10/13/04 “ya.. you get the copyright symbol cos they are all downloaded copywrited images. As for multiple slides.. Hhmmm... not sure if I can get the AVI to run over multiple slides..” 12:35:26 PM 10/13/04 “plus.. I don't know how to make it change slides AUTO without having to click it. Oh well.. I will get back to work on it sometime today. I don't have to teach the class until next week.” 12:36:28 PM 10/13/04 “Town-- there is a function where you can make the slides change auto.... go to "slide show" on your menu then to "slide transition" you can then set the time for each slide.... What I do when I have multiple elements is to duplicate the original slide make the pictures non-animated and then animate each slide action.... does that make sense?” 12:40:16 PM 10/13/04 “I just now found that.. !!... I didn't realize you could make it run auto. I will see if this doesn't fix it.. maybe by spreading all the animations out over several slides, it will clear memory enough to allow for better video refresh.” 12:56:24 PM 10/13/04 “Yes, that should help out a lot try it and let me know!” 1:26:06 PM 10/13/04 “I got it. Breaking it out to separate slides fixed it. Thanks for the pointer/help. I found out a few things about PP I didn't know to do.” 3:11:02 PM 10/13/04
