Sol
I'll have to bring us along some "Downtown Brown" from the Lost Coast Brewery. Not Nav's delectible drayage but we'll make do until the life after death(march) party. I'll bring enough into WLD's campground for all the 1a's or whatever the hell I am.

So now it's the L.A.D. Party?

I didn't think people would be able to wait until the motel's ice.

Downtown Brown huh...? Mmmmmmmm.....drooling like Homer now. Sounds like it could be one of those double bocks that could cause a man to go blind. I'll drink it!!!!

Wanna, they'll have to wait, 'cause I said. I AM THE MIESTER!

Sol, just drink until you need glasses.

Now why didn't I think of that? Well, MEISTER, we really need the beer on our layover day........... Don't we?

You bring up a good point wanna.
How many bottles are you going to carry, not counting the ones I'm going to sneak into your pack?

navi...if it is backpacking beer , shouldnt you have brewed in a platy?...could we pour over to a platy bag?...
om

3/17/05

I don't think a platy could take the carbonation.

Plus tequila is lighter. More bang for the oz.

We'll just have to wait until the LAD Party.
Dang.

I'm still on life's search for dehydrated beer myself.

NAVI! Oh my gosh! I loved that dvd of last years trip. Loved the music, the still shots and everything about it! Thank you soooo much for all your hard work. It took me back. It was great to relive it! Thanks again!

Glad you enjoyed.

I tried dehydrated beer once. That stuff was foul! Maybe that's the reason you can't buy it anymore.

Seriously, you tried dehydrated beer?

I know what you mean about carrying it. It's just that it would be fun. The video footage would be the best.

Seriously, yes. REI had packets. Just add water. If you want alcohol, add vodka.
It was REALLY REALLY BAD.
It ruined some good vodka.
Did I say it was REALLY REALLY BAD?

Oh, you know me Nav. Would I miss a party? Heck yeah, I'll be at the post party! Ok, so save me some for that for sure.

Wow, didn't know they really did make dehydrated alcohol. Sounds like I should be glad I've never tasted it, huh?

There should be plenty of snow on the passes this year in July, but it's still to early to tell how much. We're headed up to Shepherd Pass over 4th of July weekend, so we'll be able to report back on the early July conditions. Those that are doing the High Sierra Trail will be able to provide a good report too.

Once again, I'm going to propose to those going in a week or two ahead of us to please stash some beer along our route! Sheesh!

Sorry Rockman - I'm going in over Shepherd Pass, so there won't be any extra beer weight in my pack. That cold one back at the trailhead sure will be nice though.

I'm Booked !!
Booked a flight Seattle to Reno. I get into Reno at 1:30 on the Friday and fly out at 1:40 on the Monday.

Woo Hoo !!

Sorry Hodge, I won't be able to pick you up. It's just a little too far out my way.
the-naviguesser

3/26/05

;-) That's okay Navi

I had a look at all of the arrival point options, and nothing even comes close to the deal I can get flying to Reno. And departing out of Seattle cuts the price by half again compared to flying from Vancouver. It's only a 2 hour drive, and the flight from here stops in Seattle anyways. I much prefer to drive through customs than do the international flight thing too.
Hodgeman of BC

I'm sure that's the case.
I still can't pick you up.

Hodge
I think if you don't have somebody picking you up already I can. Then I'm on WLD's list for a camping spot in his group site at Onion Valley so we can see if there's more spots with him. Hikerchik is right there close to Reno too but I can't remember what her Friday is like.

I'm going to try to work my schedule to come in Friday so I can partake of the Navi-ale and the prehike party. That will give me a chance to acclimate and relax on Saturday before my group takes off on Sunday. How would that work with Friday night accomodations in the campground? I could keep moving my tent every 2 hours so the ranger will be too confused to notice that there is an extra body around... Hikerchic, I may come down through Reno too. How is that comfy couch if I don't make it all the way down on Friday? Maybe I'll come down on Thursday and get lucky? (I meant GAMBLING!)

If you're going to be there Fri., I mean after getting lucky (wink wink) and all, think about hiking in Sat. It'll be a much easier hike than going in on Sun.

I gotta watch out for you kids all the time.

Thanks JVZ - I don't really have a plan yet. So I guess we'll see what Hikerchic wants to do. She had offered to collect me at the airport, but that might be a bit early if she's working

I had figured on heading down to the trailhead on Saturday and starting on Sunday. I'm flexible at this point. I guess it's my turn to be 'along for the ride'
Hodgeman of BC

OK for now Hodge and Ladyhiker. As the time gets close it'll all work itself out.
WLD what kind of room are you looking at in the site you reserved on Fri. nite? I can't remember other than it is a group site.

Prehike and post hike parties?! What you want to bet that someone will want to party at Wright's Basin when the whole crowd is together? I can see us old geezers ten years from now car camping and getting plastered every night. Maybe even telling our significant other we're going hiking and staying at the Dwo Villa for the whole week. Not good .....not good at all. :)

I think that's a great idea Sol.
I'll see you there in 10 years. "Hey Buddy, remember when we climbed that hill? You want another beer?"

Specking of BEER.
I got the ale bottled.
The McBeer should be REAL good, a sweet Strong Ale.
The Triple Hoped Wheezers & Geezers Ale is VERY flowery and fruity, but leaves a bitter aftertaste.
We'll see how they condition in the bottle.

hikerchic checking in!
Don't worry about hodge everyone. I've got it covered. I'm picking him up at the airport and taking him back that Monday. Ladyhiker, I can do the same for you too! Maybe you guys can fly in together and you can wait at the airport for 2 hrs with Hodge until I get there approx. 3:30. Oh, Hodge, you have mail!

I don't have a couch anymore ladyhiker! I'm in a studio with a loft. It's small but if you don't mind, you can share my king size bed with me and Hodge can sleep in the loft or actually there is enough room for two in the loft. So, however we want to do it. Don't worry there will be plenty of room. We'll figure it out! And there's some really fun bars we can go to in my little town that Friday night! I should have my new laptop by then for sure so hodge can report back to everyone before and after.

oh navi! You and your demented mind! But hey! If that's what they want to do.....

If ladyhiker flys in with hodge, I have a great place we can go to dinner that Friday night. I'll take you to Lake Tahoe, Jake's on the Lake. Great food and we can sit out on the marina. It'll be gorgeous that time of year. Actually, who else is in the area? Maybe they can drive up and join us? Wanderer, buck. Where is buck? I thought he was up here somewhere in northern Cal...maybe not. Maidentahoe is in Meyers which is on the other side of the lake. Or dunk? Whomever lives up here but isn't going to sierrapalooza, can join us!
