“hodge, for sure we'll go to that restaurant even if no one else can go. I've never been to that airport but I'm sure they would have a pub or two.

wannabp; quite possibly you and I might meet up at some hike between now and the trip. Another suggestion is if you go hiking with anyone in the Sac area or with jvz between now and then, I can pick it up from one of them on one of my many trips back to Stockton. Don't worry. We'll get it to him one way or another.”

“I can leave it with Geologyguy or pass by JVZ's house on the way home from the HST and leave it with him. Isn't he going in on Sunday?”

“If I were a nice guy, I could offer to fill it up with food and carry it in for you! Ha!”

“The bear canister transfer can be worked out pretty easily. I'll bet I make it over to the coast soon for a hike at Pt. Reyes and can arrange to pick up the canister then. Then I can get it to hikerchik or mail Hodge my truck key. We have plenty of time.”

Navi, you can get it the week before, since I won't get to OV til late. We'll be using it Jul 2-10, so you can get it after that.”

Okay.... how about this...

If you don't mind picking me up in Reno JVZ, I'll ride down with you on the Friday, since I'm getting in earlier than expected anyways. That way I can just get wannabp's canister from her personally on Saturday.

Barring any further changes by the airline, my flight gets into Reno at 11:37 a.m. Wouldn't this be taking you a long way out of the way JVZ?

Sooo Hodge I can pick you up in Reno and you should be able to stay in Onion Valley that nite. Sorry no loft 8). Reno is not that much out of the way and I like early starts so no problem there. whatcha think?”

“jvz - My understanding of our campsites is one car, six people. But we can spot cars in the trailhead parking lot if we want. Not sure if their is a tent limit, however.”

“Jvz, If you are picking Hodgeman up in Reno at 11:37 am will I still be hitching a ride with you? Would you be going through Sacramento to hit 80? If so maybe you could pick me up along the way instead of me driving to your house? I think I'm lost now. It doesn't take much though. LOL”

“The party starts in Reno. Yea Songbyrd I can swing thru your place and go from there to Reno. Of course then I have to go back thru Sacramento(said real whiney and unbecoming)but thats ok. Now if Ladyhiker can get to Reno around the time Hodge does we're cruisin. By then the bear canister thing will be all worked out too and you can bring your extra Garcia in case its needed. Hodge usually needs two or three 8). From what Phil says Ladyhiker you should be able to stay in one place all night long. Hows that for things working out? We don't need you all whiney too one of us is enough.”

“Don't forget that Shamus and I and the creekjumpers will be driving from Sacramento on Friday too. I am also very willing to participate in the bear cannister shuffle if needed. I have lost track of who is riding with whom but I still have room at my house for Thursday night but probably not room in the car to the tralhead.”

“Geeez, Jvz, were you planning to go through Sac to get to Reno? If not, I can meet you all in Truckee (Hikerchicks) or wherever I can stow my car safely. I have an Aunt that lives in Tahoe City. I could leave my car there or maybe Hikerchicks. I could catch a ride back with whom ever is going that way at the end. It's crazy for you to drive all over the darn nation to get us to our trailhead and back. Not gonna do that to you. (no whining here)”

I got my new pack (ULA P2) ordered. Should get it in about 3 more weeks. I also have a Garmin Vista GPS coming next week. Can't wait to figure it out. This Garmin does everything. Maybe we can do some geocaching (sp?) while on this trip. Can't wait.”

“If you're bringing your GPS, it might be fun to put different peaks in as waypoints before you leave, then you can have the GPS 'point' to them from camp. I know I'm never confident that the peaks are the ones I think they are using just the map. There are so darn many of them, and you can only see one side.”

“jvz - it does seem a little silly for you to go all the way to Tahoe on your way to the trailhead. I know thay you truckers have a different attitude about a couple o' miles than we ordinary folk do. Another possiblitiy would be for us to pick up songbyrd (maybe strap her on the top) and tolerate being a little crowded as far as to Lodi to meet up with you. Is there a reason you have to go to Tahoe? (I am loosing track of who is going with whom...)

I guess we have a little while to work out the details....

navi - you really should fly to Sacto so we can add you to the mix and try to figure out how to get you to the trailhead too”
