“I'm very bummed everyone but I'm going to have to back out of this trip. I thought I could swing it when I signed up but other stuff kept coming up gobbling up my money. I dont' get vacation pay at my new job (7 months ago) and a week and a day is just too much moulah to miss.

I'm really bummed about this and sorry I'm going to miss everyone.

Hodge, I'll still take off that Monday and give you a ride back to the airport so you can still stay at my place.

ladyhiker, did you decide if you were going to fly back from Reno that Monday and stay at my place? You still can. I would love to see you guys.

songbyrd, I was thinking of possibly still going to the party and sharing the room with you but I feel like I'll be an outsider since I didn't do the trip. You know what I mean, jean?

“Hikerchic, I'm going to start back at the beginning. Couldn't you do a shorter version of the trip? If you're maybe coming a day or so early, maybe you could hike in and spend 1-2 nights. I haven't looked at the logistics, just thinking that you probably have a little time off. Definitely the party even if you can't hike in for a few days, but out of the umpteen options, maybe one would work and you could get a same day permit or just be on your old one wandering a bit off trail.”

Now will there be wood to burn? It is a very busy spot you know.”

“Ewker, I don't remember which day/route you're on, but unless there's a food locker on your first night, it doesn't matter much if there's one your second night. At least, the first day of food can be outside the canister.”
