I don't know what you have right now but a starter kit might be nice to start with.

ML'ing can be alot of 'a la carting' little items. cha-ching.

Somethings you should look into getting if you don't already have them or if they are not included in the stater kit, nipple pick (lg. safety pin works in a pinch), 3" extended jag for cleaning, those bore lights are nice, a nice powder measurer and powder, breech plug tool, a capper, good powder solvent for cleaning, bore lube and it never hurts to have an extra nipple, and of course a nice bag(fanny pack) to carry all that stuff. Hey if that ml came with a cheapy ramrod get a nice one its worth it.

I would suggest researching some tricks of the trade if you have not ml'ed in awhile and practicing.

Gotta scope or iron sights for now?

Yeah, but then you got to pick gravel out of your teeth when eating the meat.

Thanks for the advice Peter. That’s actually what I plan to get. I'm stopping in at a local gun shop tonight to get a scope mounted (the front sight on the rifle is broken) and pick up some powder and primers. I’m going to look to see if they have a kit, but if they don’t I’ll have to order one tonight.

I found what I needed. You got to watch out when you talk about some of the cleaning/maintenance supplies. I got some weird looks when I was talking about getting bore butter and nipple grease. lol

Got my first deer this weekend. A little button buck that I shot at about 70 yards with my uncles Hawken .54 cal. with open iron sights; I never got my muzzleloader sighted in so I had to borrow a rifle. I guess there will be meat in the lumberzac freezer this year.

This is the first time I've heard of this disease. So far it's killed thousands of deer throughout the southeast. Anyone else know anything about it?

one of my moonbat co-workers was given some meat to eat (i believe it was in a stew), not knowing that it was bear. once she was told that it was bear, she was horrified.

ive been trying to get out of her why eating bear would be so much worse than any other kind of meat (recall that she willingly ate of it when she thought it was just some farm-raised animal)

the best answer i can get is "its......bear!"

I scared a deer in the backyard Sat. My daughter asked if I was going to get a gun and shoot it. Where did that come from? I asked her why she wanted me to shoot a deer. Her answer was that she wanted to taste deer meet. Alrighty then. A co-worker hunts a good bit so we'll have to hook up little Miss with some venision this fall.

Took my son out to an old hunting area that our family has hunted for generations......found that it had been logged about 7-8 years ago. I couldn't even find the old trails to get to my favorite spot and the beavers have dammed up the creek making it impossible to cross. :(

Bummer NC, I can relate. My aunts farm (will be a centennial farm in 2012) has changed big time, the neighbors have sub divided and the deer are all but gone. Its sad to see...

If there's an upside, probably 90% of the deer I've seen hunting have been in revegetated logged off areas. Just wait until the saplings grows in, the deer will love it.

I am not opposed to deer hunting or any other kind of hunting, but why would you want to shoot something thats so rare that its almost one of a kind?

Fat-Ass Muggle #&%!$
Kills Harry Potter Patronus

AVON, MINNESOTA - In what is being hailed by the non-magickal world as a rare trophy, an overweight Muggle from the world's least magickal place - Minnesota - shot and killed Harry Potter's patronus earlier this week.

The white stag, which Potter had conjured to shield Muggles from political correctness, global warming, Internet addiction, celebrity obsession and a myriad other soul-sucking issues plaguing the non-magickal world - was unfortunate enough to end up in the gun sites of Mary Roakoz, who couldn't wait to alert the media about her accomplishment.

On this video, the unpleasantly plump Roakoz describes how she stalked and killed Harry Potter's protective guardian.

"I had to creep a little bit, probably about 40 yards to get to a good place where I could steady myself," she said, neglecting to mention that she has yet to fill in the 40-foot, eighteen-inch deep trench her slug-like body left in the ground.

Roakoz, when informed that the deer she killed was actually a Patronus, seemed unfazed. "I hope next time he'll conjure up a twinkie!" she said of the distraught Potter.

The fat white hunter plans to donate the creature to Cabela's where it will be stuffed an mounted next to the Hippogriff she shot last year.

And they wonder why we don't give them wands....

And yet we show no emotion when throwing pork chops in the shopping cart. I think modern man has become too emotionally divorced from his food. I'm not saddened when shooting a deer but I am heartbroken when I see one rotting alongside the road.
