Scorchy's goin to GA!

“my friend gina is completely obsessed with the city of Savannah, GA and she's taking me on an all expenses paid trip there overnight on november 6-7.

we're staying with one of her friends down there and we'll be touring the city on the 6th and morning of the 7th and then leaving the afternoon of the 7th.

“Hey...lots of people coming here to the the ATL. My sister in law lived in Savannah for a few years, and we always had fun going down to the Irish pub on River street....there's a Ben and Jerry's about a block away that always sings the siren song of the drunk...”

“Kevin Barrys is the pub on river street. Very traditional downstairs. Upstairs is a bunch of memorabelia from the Ranger regiment (1st Battalion is in Savannah), as well as other Special ops units. Very cool for the likes of...me.”

i didn't know forrest gump was filmed in savannah (or the bench scenes at least). very cool.

The park bench Tom Hanks sits on for much of the movie was located in historic Savannah, GA, at Chippewa Square. The fiberglass bench he sat on has since been removed and placed into a museum to avoid being destroyed by the weather. The church where the feather first falls is about 100 yards just down the street from his bench.”

“You'll like Savannah, lots of Old South stuff and i hear there's just some really really good food.

I was supposed to go there over Labor Day weekend, but Hurricane Frances ran me out of town, so I've never been.

“On the square of Savannah it is laid back, a beautiful southern town. One of, if not the only city that was not burned during the war.Stoped in on a road trip from the mountains, on my way back to Florida. Four days later, I made it home. I perfer it to Charleston, which is also a beautiful city. Will be there myself in November around the 12th or so. Slow down take it all in, have a drink on the river and don't rush about. If you like history and that southern style, you'll be back.
