I read about you getting that poor truck driver in trouble with his wife/gf. ;-)” 6:04:46 PM 10/18/04 “SG very cool. Anyone get photos of the medals? I'd love to see them. XL please for the shirt.” 6:50:11 PM 10/18/04 “see......you assume I am bad.......” 6:52:12 PM 10/18/04 Are There Any Left? “Dub...what ever happened to the 4 Missing Links you wanted to get rid of?” 6:52:55 PM 10/18/04 “I still have a few of them...I went and bought the rest from the other store in my area so I have a few more now. Sold 3 so far.” 8:31:55 PM 10/18/04 Check Yer Mailbox... “Dub...You've got mail. ”8:54:09 PM 10/18/04 “stovy, that was a lie, nothing but a lie. ;-) still waiting for trip reports. seams like the TC4 people are a little slow.... come on now...keep it moving...write those reports.” 9:03:42 PM 10/18/04 “Oh my gosh smokygirl...that's terrible. Blah...sorry to hear about the fence too! hehe OH OH and he was locked in the car overnight? LMAO!” 9:06:08 PM 10/18/04 “FYI.. I got my blood infection from what started as poison oak.” 9:40:08 PM 10/18/04 “Oh no poor Bubba, two nights locked up. I finally got him into the back of my pick up truck and hten locked him in so he could not wonder around town anymore. I think he has had enough trauma for a while. At least as he toured the Gap for the night, he knew where to come back to. The worst part of the whole experience was for this USC- Gamecock to use a UT leash to walk a dog. Smokey Girl it is Kpeb@aol.com. Yes, the big bad Cumberalnd Gap cop..... Whooo Hooo.” 9:57:22 PM 10/18/04 “I was late registering. Do I still get a t-shirt? They were awesome by the way!” 10:42:36 PM 10/18/04 “Pictures will be up in five minutes.” 12:51:21 AM 10/19/04 Pictures 12:55:15 AM 10/19/04 “Trip report and captions to follow...tomorrow.” 12:56:32 AM 10/19/04 “Great pics Dub!!!!!!” 4:01:27 AM 10/19/04 “boo hoo... Sounds like fun! Am awaiting more trip reports. And photos of course.... It's 3:30 a.m. and I'm home following 2-hour drive following red eye from Atlanta to Mpls. (including flying in lightning! EEK!) I got to Atlanta Airport Friday, 11 a.m.-ish, and gojo picked up. He was unable to be that far away from home over the weekend, so we made due. The farthest we got from his place was a couple hours. Basically that involved camping by the Ocumulgee River in the Ocononee Forest as the hunters rolled in for the first day of deer season; eatintg at The Whistlestop restaurant in the town of Juliette (restaurant in "Fried Green Tomatoes" movie, which I need to see); Andersonville Prison National Monument/POW Museum (where Gizmo got his name announced); camping at GA Veterans Memorial Park and checking their tank and jet fighter display; and seeing Ocumulgee National Monument in Macon. We made due, but were both sad to be unable to attend. All that cold weather gear with and nowhere to wear it!! (so, as you can imagine, I went nekkid. JOKE! JOKING!!) T Mac, I expect a full rundown this weekend. And now... beddy bye calls this zombie from the computer!” 4:24:19 AM 10/19/04 “Dang, meeting SuperTroll puts such a heavy burden on a TTer. Twice I've thought my pictures were ready for posting, only to find pictures of the Troll's face, which cannot be shown lest a terrible plague fall upon the photographer (or something like that). Time to check again. Lizs - you'll have it.” 9:18:36 AM 10/19/04 “*laughs * SuperTroll does that by design.. not good to have his face.. lest a terrorist single him out. ;)” 9:24:55 AM 10/19/04 “Na, its really because that mug of his would cause webshots to crash!” 9:28:19 AM 10/19/04 Crab Cake Recipe “CRAB CAKES Bored of your typical freeze dried meat meals and standard recipes? The following recipe won First Place in the 2004 Titanium Chef Backpacking Cooking Contest. This tasty recipe cooks up fast, and the bagels will keep up to a week in cooler weather on the trail. Everything is lightweight. At Home: Place in a snack sized dab bag: 1 teaspoon dried onion powder 2 tablespoons of flour 1 teaspoon of celery flakes 1 teaspoon finely chopped dehydrated red bell peppers 1/8 teaspoon lemon juice powder ½ teaspoon black pepper ¼ teaspoon salt Also bring: Two 3.53 oz. Chicken of the Sea Pouches Premium Crab 2 bagels 2 ounces of olive oil. Napkins or paper towels On the trail: Add the spice-flour mixture to the crab meat and mix, and let sit for ten minutes. Cut each bagel in half and fry each bagel in a generous dab of olive oil and set aside. With a large lightweight plastic serving spoon, drop half of the crab mixture into a hot skillet previously greased with a generous dab of olive oil. With the bottom of the spoon, form the crab meat into a flat round shape the size of your bagel. Fry each crab cake over low heat about 3 minutes per side in the remaining olive oil until golden brown. Eat the two fried crab cakes in the bagels like a sandwich wrapped in a napkin. One of my backpacking partners likes his crab cake sandwiches with a slice of red onion. You can eat better on the trail than at home.” 10:20:11 AM 10/19/04 Ahem... “May the bungie cords I gave you smack you in the face for that last comment TMAC...LOL The tenants of the Witness Protection Program prevent me from having my photo taken....helps prevent the cartels locating me....guess I blew up one to many drug labs in my SNOWCAP days....... ...No wait, it was my Counter Terror involvement.... ...uh...that group of Bosnian Human Trafficers I assasinated?.... ...would you believe I jay walked and got caught on camera?... Just a minute I wrote the reason down, it's around here someplace....ROTFLMAO” 10:50:35 AM 10/19/04 “More pictures Lizs? Hardly anyone has looked at the ones I posted.” 11:50:05 AM 10/19/04 “I did, Dub.. does it record when people look?” 11:57:00 AM 10/19/04 “ so far this month I have travelled about 1400 miles and been in 7 states.....woooo hoooooo!!!!”2000 so far in less than one week. Enjoyed our campsite chat Thursday evening. And, yes, your hugs are the greatest! Glad you made the trip safely. SuperTroll -Thanks again for cleaning my battery posts and connectors Thursday night, when my car would not start. It's been working fine ever since. When I got the brakes on Sat., I had a tire going flat. Picked up a nail somewhere after the tire rotation on Thursday. BTW, I was able to camp along the way on Friday night and have been sleeping in a tent every night since seeing you. It was a good thing that I continued to Iowa and skipped TC4. My daughter and I have been having a great visit and she will be leaving tomorrow with classmates on a trip to Montreal. It was nice meeting you. Enjoyed our conversations.” 12:11:22 PM 10/19/04 “There is a counter at the bottom of the pages.” 12:15:12 PM 10/19/04 “Ah ha. I'm also writing my TR too. If you think those pics are big (200K) you should have seen them before I downsized them from 2mb each.” 12:38:11 PM 10/19/04 “Hey Dubs, nice photos. I remember on Pinnacle you said you were taking a panoramic shot. Is that a special feature of your camera?” 3:20:46 PM 10/19/04 “Prosecutor: You know how much I love your crab cakes! What a great choice to enter. Where can one find lemon juice powder?” 3:30:59 PM 10/19/04 “Those crab cakes were as good as I've had anywhere, I'm not blowin smoke folks. Rich & savory, and crispy on the outside soft without being gooey inside. They were great. Prosecuter - I didn't get this years cookbook, could you mail me one?” 3:35:29 PM 10/19/04 “T Mac, yeah, it's a special feature of my camera. I uploaded both pano shots to my TC4 page...they are at the bottom. And yes, those crab cakes were damn good! Easy to make too! Very deserving of first place...again ;-)” 3:49:58 PM 10/19/04 “DUB...LOL>.hahahahahahaha....love what ya did with Super's pic....LOL..... and I will get to a trip report....some of us have to actually WORK while at work...... be nice to me ..I had a rough day :(” 4:21:16 PM 10/19/04 << back to Titanium Chef Backcountry Cookoff page
