Newbie to TT
Just thought I would say hi. Got this site from a guy I work with and I think it is great. I spend all of my free time in the woods, mostly in National forests in alabama. Banged around Sipsey a few times, spent a couple of nights on the Pinhoti. I am in the process of changing careers from teaching to one in wildlife biology, so I decided to quit lurking and introduce myself. If any of you work for agencies such as department of conservation, or fish & wildlife agencies, I would love to get some info from you. Look forward to maybe meeting some of you on the trail.

Hey, he filled out his profile, including an email address, so he is probably for real!

Hello, Joker! I'm in Alabama too, Huntsville specifically. There's a Sipsey trip coming up in November and you'll be able to meet some of us, if you care to.

Where are you?
How old are you?

I'm from Huntsville too. I've been on one TT trip and it was great. I second the invitation to join the Sipsey trip.

Well, it's a "he", BearMagnetty...they "banged around Sipsey a few times."

If it is a female, I would be surprised. Not many women here ever use the word "banged" in public, anyways.

Welcome to TT!

Last trip I took to Sipsey was to the big tree. Pretty scenery. I read about the photo trip coming up, I would like to try to make it, but I don't get out of work until around 11 am Sat and it is about a 2.5 hour drive. (I run a Sat. morning clinic for high school kids injured during Fri. night football.) Are there any rules or taboos for these trips? I have been on organized trips where drinking was discouraged, others where they brought a radio and blasted it the whole time, and others where everybody brought .22's and shot up cans the whole trip. It is nice to know what is appropriate and expected before each trip. BTW, I am not a troll, I spend much of my online time at bladeforums.com. Come visit if you have any questions about blades. They also have a good wilderness survival forum.

I think guns and radios are taboo on most TT trips.

It's taboo NOT to bring booze on TT trips!

Usually, loud music, drinking, shooting, knife throwing, and other debauchery is all encouraged on TT trips....

This is pretty much an LNT crowd, so the radio blasting and shooting cans with a .22 are discouraged. Drinking can be a hot topic too, depending on where the hike is. F'r instance, the Sipsey is in a dry county, so drinking at sites near the trailhead can and has resulted in people being ticketed and fined. On every trip however, somebody brings a flask or bottle, so it's accepted.

For shame all of you. Polluting this person's mind with the thoughts of drunken disobience. You all ought to be ashamed of yourselves!

Hey Bit, remember that Savage Gulf hike where I got all sloppy drunk and streaked though camp! That was the greatest.

If there's a hot female banging around Sipsey then I'm moving! Can I find "Sipsey" on Mapquest????

BTW - why must it be male, because he/she reads the Washington Blade? That mag is not for homosexual males only, dammit!

Well, you got one chance in three, BM. A quick check against M Woodard in Huntsville shows up with three entries -- two male, one female. So unless mwoodard@charter.net is Mary Ann, you'll have to accept the fact that JokrsWylde is mostly likely Matthew Woodard, or Milan Woodard.

But hey, if you are crazy enough to stalk a newbie and get all tore up over potentially a new female on TrailTalk -- here's where her house is:

Did you want her phone number too? (256) 971-0410.

But you are really going to have to calm down, BearMagnet. Folks are going to freak out if you keep chasing the potential available females and salivating.

;)

Welcome to TT.
I'm on the MS Gulf Coast and drive up thru Montgomery and B'ham on my way to most backpacking trips.

Welcome to TT! We like people from Alabama round here but if you're a Bama fan you must know we have a quota limit on Bama fans which is 1. Dayhiker is the resident Bama fan as of right now but if you would like to unseat him for the title of lone Bama fan we can schedule a cage match for Saturday.

Sounds like you have an interesting life and wide variety of interests. Glad you’re here.
