Flying down seven lakes drive to beat the sun set to the tom jones lean tue failed. but along the way, I got some great shots of the lakes. Tiger and I (my pledge brother) hike quickly to the top of the mountain and find the sun has completly set. Guided only buy the light from out picture phones and a roomates crappy flashlight we pursue onward to find BobO's pur hiker water filter. In the distance I hear treking poles clang and I see a headlamp bouncing up and down, signiling to me a walking hiker. I think, great, he can tell me how close I am to the lean tu, since it is slightly hiden. I look up in to the hikers eyes, but am blinded by his LED, and I as, how far to the lean tu. The hiker takes a breather. We both pause for a minute asking each other the obviouse question, "is that him?". Must hike replys "keith?" with hesitation in his tone. A wave of relife falls over my face, since i thought it was musthike, but since i couldn't see past his headlamp I wasn't going to say anything. Unfortunatly Musthike tells me that he already searched the leantu for the filter. We chatt for a while and then head back to the cars and part are ways.

Bobo, sorry dude, no results.

I got some nice photos on the drive though:

Nice pics Tea, the sky looked angry.

Ice Tea and musthike to the rescue! Sorry to send you out there with no results. The filter definately didn't make it home with me. I figured the only chance was that it slipped behind the shelter floor or rafters and I gave the guys explicit directions about where to look.

Oh well, someone walked away from the Tom Jones shelter with alittle trail magic this past weekend! In the grand scheme of things, I guess this means it's time for a......
GEAR UPGRADE!!!

Thanks again you guys, very much appreciated!

Sorry Capn. I cut out of the office a little early so I would still have a little daylight for searching. It only took about 20 minutes or so to get to the trailhead. I searched in all the nooks and crannies. I looker under the sleeping platform but only found a couple of wine bottles and a couple beer cans. I searched behind the shelter behind the log where you said you had laid some stuff down and I searched all around the shelter, but like ice tea said, no filter, Not only was it disheartening not to find your filter but the whole time I was searching there were these three orange faced ghouls sitting on the fireplace mocking me. It was a nice hike up the hill and as it was getting dark an owl in a nearby tree began to hoot. It made me wish I had some overnight gear with me to stay night. When I left the shelter I was hoping ice tea had already been there and found it when I came upon two guys walking along in the dark with absolutely nothing with them and I thought to myself what the heck are these two doing up here.

So you met our three little friends, eh?!?

Thanks again Conk and Tea, next time we meet, the drinks are on me! Nice trip report though! Everyone loves the Tom Jones shelter, the rocks it's built on must have some strange Sedona-quality energy emissions!

Two indoor fireplaces and one outdoor fireplace. Gee! I wonder why there wasn't a single dead twig for a quarter-mile radius???
