NY Shoe Store Gets Its Own ZIP Code

NEW YORK - Saks Fifth Avenue says its new shoe department is so big that it's getting its own ZIP code.

The Manhattan store is revamping its shoe department, and when it moves from the fourth floor to an 8,500-square-foot space on the eighth floor in August, customers will be able to send mail to 10022-SHOE.

"We believe it's such a big move for us it deserves its own ZIP code," Saks spokeswoman Lesley Langsam Kennedy said Thursday. "We wanted to make it a destination."

The retailer worked with the U.S. Postal Service on the new ZIP code _ but only the last four characters, which aren't necessary when mailing something, are specialized. The rest of the neighborhood shares 10022.

Saks operates 54 stores in 25 states and two stores in the Middle East.”

Today I scored these Mephisto Allrounders in dusty blue. They retail on Zappos for $133.95. I paid 34.90 at Nordstrom's Rack (and I paid with a $50 gift card). As soon as I got out the door I slipped off my heels and put these on to finish my walk to my car. What a heavenly pair of shoes with wonderful arch support and heel shock absorbtion.”

“I have always been content with clearance priced Tevas to satisfy my flip flop needs. But I have begun to suffer from plantar fasciitis, which is quite painful at times. It seems to be the worst when I have gone too many days in a row wearing shoes with no support (like flip flops). I need to have much better arch support and heel shock absorption to keep the pain at bay. So it's worth the $35 to me. I don't suppose I'll ever be able to afford Mephistos sneakers, though I lust after them.”

=) I can actually wear these for fifteen minutes without intense foot pain! Good thing as the day I bought them for starts at 2pm and ends when the bar closes at the after wedding party.

I'm really digging the forties inspired fashions lately. Generally I don't get too excited about whatever is the current fad but I love this stuff!

“No Ruby, unfortunately it's a horrible, floor length, brown polyester satin, tank a-line, with an empire waist. It's almost the color of dark chocolate. The shoes will definitely be the best part of the ensemble. The bride is going to look gorgeous standing next to twelve women dressed as sticks, lol.”
