LOL...” 1:14:57 PM 10/22/04 “It's a bit too pink for me(you really are a chick!)!! I was there two years ago!!” 1:15:58 PM 10/22/04 “Road? 95 miles and 42,000 feet of elevation change!” 1:17:25 PM 10/22/04 “I only did 1/3 of it :p” 1:18:35 PM 10/22/04 “Girl!!” 1:19:13 PM 10/22/04 “And your point would be...???” 1:19:35 PM 10/22/04 “I'll refrain from commenting on that one. too easy.” 1:20:39 PM 10/22/04 “I'm jivin' witchya! I wish I could drive on down for a weekend and do ANY bit of the Wonderland. I'll be lucky to get there next summer.......we did it in August '02.” 1:21:34 PM 10/22/04 “LMAO!!!” 1:21:46 PM 10/22/04 “next summer is a section hike of the PCT... Prolly Snoqualmie to Stevens! :) LAST summer was a solo through hike of the Olympics. Elwha to Quinault. UG! What a trip! last edited: 10/22/04 1:23:35 PM” 1:23:16 PM 10/22/04 “Huh! I did 45 miles in Olympic in 2000.....loved it!” 1:24:59 PM 10/22/04 “Very cool... I haven't found any fuschia ones (yet!)... I have a (cotton) flannel "camping shirt" i use for car-camping (when it's NOT raining)... it's my favorite camp shirt-- has a black & fuschia checkered pattern... Of course, when shopping for sales, pickings can be slim at at times... seemed like this season none of the "grey-blue" colored clothing was popular-- there were lots on the racks....” 1:26:16 PM 10/22/04 “yup. I did it in 2003! Prolly the same trail! I got rained on for 5 days straight. UG!!! Bailed on day 5 (was supposed to be out 6 days) and broke my wrist on the way out.” 1:26:18 PM 10/22/04 “Look.. if you guys want to talk about hiking you're in the wrong f'n bbs. Please leave the shoe thread at least if you want to talk about such things.” 1:26:20 PM 10/22/04 “LOL. Okay! Back to shoes! I have on my black high heeled loafers today. Got them 2nd hand too. Love them!” 1:27:43 PM 10/22/04 “MarkO - I was just commenting on how the trail looked...I've never been on a trail that wasn't rocky/rooty/swampy and closed in with trees - unless I was above treeline, then it's just rocks, rocks and more rocks! I have no doubt the route was sufficiently rugged! =D” 1:29:19 PM 10/22/04 “My bestest shoe score was a pair of brand new Scarpa mountaineering boots for $30 at Goodwill...I love them boots!” 1:30:45 PM 10/22/04 “BB- That part of the trail is less than 1/2 mile away from Sunrise... ie: touron central! So it takes a pretty heavy beating! And, just to keep it about shoes... I had my comfy favorite-ist hiking boots on! I still need to replace them :(” 1:31:08 PM 10/22/04 “The last time I ever wore goretex boots while hiking was the time about 9 months ago we were hiking in Georgia and we got 2 inches of rain in 1.5 hours. Goretex goes a great job at keeping water in as well as it does out. All weekend boots never even came close to drying out.” 1:31:36 PM 10/22/04 “"...has a black & fuschia checkered pattern.." pink, are you a part-time jockey? My kid and I went up the Hoh and came out at Sol Duc. We spent an extra night at Glacier Meadows to rest. We had planned to go out Appleton Pass(?) to Barnes Creek to Lake Crescent but the rangers warned us that there were a lot of downed trees that route. It might have taken us an extra day or two to get through all that. The trail up from the Hoh to Hoh Lake was a killer! I wanna go back!!” 1:32:50 PM 10/22/04 “I've been to Hoh lake via Sol Duc, but not from the other side. I've hiked about 1/3 of the trails in the park! www.freewebs.com/dicentra Gotta love the PNW! :)” 1:35:05 PM 10/22/04 “Yo bunny boiler, you just described West Virginia!” 1:37:02 PM 10/22/04 “Yeah di, the trail up and over the Bogachiel(sp) was a butt-kicker!! And to keep it about shoes........I lost some toenails on the Wonderland.” 1:41:41 PM 10/22/04 “MarkO... nope--I don't ride horses often... You know. those spikey boots get in the way (totally kidding!) the checkboard pattern is kind of like the "lumberjack" plaid, only the squares are 1/2 inch instead of 1 inch squares... :-) BTW-- I got that shirt years ago (in the 80s/early 90s at American Eagle in the men's section!) last edited: 10/22/04 1:44:22 PM” 1:42:29 PM 10/22/04 “I think the jockey patterns are more diamonds than squares.....not that I patronize horse racing. (to stay with the shoes....) You'd look rather fetching in riding boots...>8^)” 1:46:36 PM 10/22/04 “1 Egg Pork Chops or Butter Fly Cut pork ~1 cup of bread crumbs (Italian style preferably) 1Tspn Garlic Powder flour lots of lemons White wine Olive Oil Butter -Pound pork until it's about 1/4" thick. -mix garlic powder in with bread crumbs -Beat eggs in with a couple of teaspoons of water. -Dredge flattened pork through flour, dip it in the egg, and then dredge it through the breadcrumbs (Pork shold have a nice even coating of breadcrumbs) -Heat olive oil (~2 tablespoons) and a tablespoon of butter in a teflon coated frying pan. Fry pork about 3-4 minutes per side. Remove from heat and set on plate. -Deglaze pan with ~1/3 cup of white wine. Squeeze the juice of 2-3 good sized lemons into the pan. Reduce for 4-5 minutes and pour over pork. Often I will put in 3/4+ of a cup of white wine and 4-5 lemons, sprinkly in some oregano, parsley flakes, and 2 tablespoons of butter and throw in a bay leaf while I reduce the mixture. I will coat the pork with the mixture and pour the rest of the mixture over some linguini. last edited: 10/22/04 1:54:35 PM” 1:52:55 PM 10/22/04 “Deo-- you like pounding your pork 'til it's 1/4" thick?!!!! (sorry, I couldn't resist!) And WHY are you posting a recipe on a thread about shoes?” 1:54:24 PM 10/22/04 “Maybe he's cookin' shoe leather” 1:56:19 PM 10/22/04 “You know the toes are an errogenous zone, right?” 2:02:18 PM 10/22/04 “hehehe... Thanks for the recipe. I'll be sure to wear CUTE SHOES while making it. LOL.” 2:07:05 PM 10/22/04 “Shoe leather stew. Ingredients 1 or 2 trail-worn leather boots, preferably "well-salted"...and with the rubber soles and shoe-laces removed. (Note, boots must be leather unless you want permanent constipation.) 1 lb of butter 52 packets of ketchup 3 Tablespoons of garlic powder a bottle of tabasco a fifth of whiskey Cast iron dutch oven 1) put the dutch oven on the campfire or stove and heat it up 2) open the bottle and taste the whiskey to make sure it tastes okay. 3) melt the butter in the bottom of a cast iron dutch oven, make sure not to "burn the butter... 4) do another taste test with another shot of whiskey 5) add the garlic powder and sautee until browned... mmmm... it smells good! 6) pour a cup of whiskey into a measuring cup... Sample it to make sure that being out of the bottle doesn't ruin the flavor.... 7) take 10 packets of ketchup, rip them open and add to the dutch oven and stir until combined... make sure to do this quickly so that the ketchup blends into the sauce... 8) while you are waiting for the sauce to thicken, take a few more sips of whiskey....hell, drink the whole cup.... 9) baste the boots with the sauce, making sure you get every nook and cranny glazed with the sauce. 10) eyeball the bottle of whiskey.. if there is still a 1/2 of the 5th left, make sure to slug down a few more mouthfuls... Shoe boots can be tough, you know. 11) grab the tabasco sauce and pour a nice amount into the pot to spice things up.... 12) check to see if you still have 1/2 a bottle of whiskey... if you do, make sure to pour a cup of whiskey and drink it down...you only need 1/4 bottle.... 12) after accidentally burning your hand on the dutch oven, throw the boots into the fire.... 12) giggle hysterically while you drink down 3 more shots of whiskey 13) watch the sauce in the pot turn to brown goo while your boots are on fire.... 14) accidentally step on the remaining ketchup packs with your other hiking shoes, and send ketchup flying all over your friends. 15) guzzle down the last of the whiskey 16) pass out... who gives a damn about your dinner? last edited: 10/22/04 2:11:44 PM” 2:11:16 PM 10/22/04 ““Deo-- you like pounding your pork 'til it's 1/4" thick?!!!! Well I was using a set of Taylor Made Rescue Mid's (Golf Clubs) when I picked up a set of Hogan CFT Hybrids (Different brand golf club) and gave them a shot. While I hit the Hogans very well and they were newer and in nicer condition then my TM's I could not get over the fact that their headcovers did not match the other clubs in my bag nor my bag as well as the Taylor Mades. I went back to using the Taylor Mades until I get some matching headcovers for the Hogans. I made this picture for my golf forum buddies and I got some pretty interesting responses from that thread. ”2:52:08 PM 10/22/04 “I like to glaze and be glazed, by a women of course. I don't call it "deglazing". I call it showering. But that comes well after the glazing. Glazing while showering is nice too, of course. In fact, I'll glaze just about anywhere...” 2:53:29 PM 10/22/04 “Deo... you never did answer my question about swing dancing style--do you lindy? east or west coast? savoy or hollywood? triple step or "street style"... :-) and have you ever heard of "Bleyers" shoes? http://swingdanceshop.com/combacbleysh.html” 2:55:37 PM 10/22/04 “You guys don't know how to properly deglaze a pan while cooking? I'm aghast!” 2:57:24 PM 10/22/04 “I'm not sure what "style" to tell you the trust... the instructor just called it swing dancing. I do know how to triple step though...” 2:58:33 PM 10/22/04 “Why would one need a pan for cooking?” 3:14:37 PM 10/22/04 “here's some swingin' shoes! ![]() last edited: 10/22/04 3:37:31 PM” 3:36:31 PM 10/22/04 “bearmagnet, are you completely unable to talk about anything without it being some sort of sexual reference? It gets old quick. And no one is interested. Back to shoes guys! :)” 3:38:12 PM 10/22/04 “Pink! Those are cool shoes! :)” 3:39:43 PM 10/22/04 “ ”3:41:00 PM 10/22/04 “You're one to talk miss Double Entendre ;) And those shoes are cool! Is it 5 yet? I'm ready to LEAVE!” 3:42:27 PM 10/22/04 “Maybe this is why Bear talks about sex all of the time... ![]() last edited: 10/22/04 3:47:19 PM” 3:44:05 PM 10/22/04 “here's where you can get bleyers shoes.... they're made for swing dancing, so they're pretty pricey, but I hear that they are worth it! (I have some capezio character shoes, myself) http://swingdanceshop.com/combacbleysh.html” 3:46:32 PM 10/22/04 Jump to Page << prev
