I don't understand why they didn't follow they "air mail" thingy. the movie specifically said it will bring the mail right to THEM.

anyway, I went back to read part of this thread to remember. some of this stuff isn't even so unlikely anymore.

what about purgotory? why should they not be in purgotory? what if they crashed with the plan and are not all dead yet?

That blonde chick was Desmond's "girlfriend", the one her father said stay away from. Apparently he lied about her "moving on". She was trying to find him. The big question is, "how did she know to look for an electromagnetic field?" Desmond hadn't been in contact w/ her. Her dad is rich, so does he have something to do with the Dharma initiative?? That's the only way I can explain she'd know about it.

“Desmond's girlfriend is Pennelope (Penn). Her dad is Mr Whitemore from Whitemore enterprises, the company that keeps popping up all over Lost, like Jin's pregnancy test, the real Henry Gale's hot air ballon.

My theory: the island is being cloaked by some wierd force, possibly the electromagnet. So no-one from the outside can see it. Mr Whitemore is in with the Dharma program and knows this. Somehow Mr Whitemore got Desmond stranded on the island to stay away from his daughter. Penn has figured this out and is trying to find the location of the island. Thus, the monitoring station.”
