here goes:

there is a time frame in your development that is critical for language skills. it's roughly 6-12 years old i believe.
kids who are exposed to sounds during that time period have a much better chance of reproducing them later on in life.

in other words, if a child is exposed to german during those years they will have a very good chance of "picking up" on german later on in life if they try to learn it, and speak it much better than someone who did not hear german during those few childhood years.

so an american actor who may have a genius IQ and study hard for years will still have a hard time speaking with an accent if they never heard it during those critical childhood years.

europeons and asians have much more exposure to english at a young age then vice versa.

make sense?

Yeah makes a lot of sense actually. Very interesting. Here in Texas everyone is exposed to Spanish all their life. While I speak or understand very little. I find it easier to grasp than other languages. In fact while I was in France in the service I found that I could make out what some signs and even some newspaper stories said because of the similarities between the two languages (both being Latin in origin). That being said I still don't understand how you can just completely drop your accent. Being a Texan I naturally have the famous Texas draw. Although it's not as exaggerated as you see in movies or on TV. I imagine that when I speak Spanish or the little bit of French that I can remember that there is a still a little hint of Texan behind the accent. For instance because of the time I spent in England I can fake a damn good English accent and even a decent Aussie and Scottish, but a true Englishman would be able to tell that I was not British because they would recognize that I didn't have the regional emphasis. What I mean is someone from New Castle, England's accent is a lot different then say someone from London or Birmingham, England. So where my "English Accent" may fool the average Joe American it would never fool an Englishman nor would my Spanish accent fool someone from Mexico. Anyway to make my point I've noticed some actors can just drop their accent entirely with out any hint. Daniel Day Lewis for example is a master of this. I know a lot of it is just talent, but it just seems easier for Europeans than Americans. See what I'm getting at?

Well I'm certainly not convinced at all that Locke is bad in any way. Obviously we know Ethan's bad, but why does he want the girl? What does it have to do with her being pregnant?

And most importantly

Why isn't there a new episode on next week?

remember in the last part the psychic was really worried about the child. It needed to be raised by her. If not that would mean great danger for what? the human race? Something evil.

I thought the whole story would end up somehow with the child...but I still don't have it figured out yet how...

I just don't buy the whole illness, disease theory.

was it the finale...
I don't think so, cause it would have been billed as such...I'm thinking its a holiday break, plus its good marketing to go back to the beginning for anybody getting tuned in late. Nah...I don't see that as the finale...

Actually Ewker your having seen them or not has nothing to do with their being reruns. If you haven't seen them then they would not be "rewatched" but you do not run the episode the network does so since they had been run previously they are reruns.

That's your english lesson for the week.
