Good morning all!!!
Ah, its a day off today for me. Its cool outside and I have my cup of hot joe, a good book to read, a kitty for my lap, some good banjo and fiddle music playing loud. All is right with the world:)I think I will wax my hiking boots today and make some homemade cookies too. :)

LOL...your tales for the day remind me of scenes in what could be a Tom Robbins novel. Thanks for the momentary retreats.

Morning in Boulder, Colorado...it was dark when I left, but the moon was full and left a glow in the area...dark with moonglow above the Continental Divide at 6:30 a.m.

Today it is a sunny 52 degrees.

One wouldn't think that there could be large mammals living in the tiny wood across the street from my house. It is perhaps an acre in size if not just slightly bigger. Well just cause I was bored I went through there as part of my walk today. First I startled the largest rabbit I've seen all year and I made my way out of the wood to the mini prairie. It belongs to one of the big manufacturing companies I think and its private property so I hadn't really ventured in before. I waded through the head high grass and dried flower heads with puffy white seeds ready to take off with the wind in a fanciful flight. The I came upon a sign that said do not mow or spray, native plants. I am thinking since the area just beyond the small tall grass area and the woods is groomed into the perfect lawn that there must be some rare plant being protected or I am sure it would of been long destroyed! Go figure, I have a small preserve right in viewing distance of my front door. On my way back I noticed signs of deer scratching on the leafy path and deer hoof prints. Walla! I startled a doe (actually it startled me!) and it gracefully took arching leaps as it ran until I no longer could see it. 20 more feet of walking and I startled a good sized buck too. I got a very good look at him. Oh what a lucky day it was for me! Natures glory showing itself to me in a time that I find it very hard to escape the city's cruel clutches. All on a beautiful clear and crisp autumn day.

It is a beautiful morning. The sky is glowing a soft red through the bare trees of the preserve across the street. It has that winter's look where the air itself has a softer hue to it. Snow covers the ground and reflects this sunrise light. Everything has a hushed quality to it and the landscape just seems to glow with it's own effervecence. My breath freezes in a cloud and my ears are nipped by the cold but thats ok, because the quality of the morning here is superb and rivals any I have seen on other days in other seasons and other places.

People that are cheery early in the mornings should be hung by their toes and beaten.

Good morning my dear friends. I hope the weekend was good to all of you and that you have returned safe from all your wonderful adventures and travels. Today it looks gray and wet outside. It has been raining a lot here but I can't complain. I have my bluegrass playing and I enjoy everything as it comes. I am feeling much better after last weeks flu. Hurah to a new year! :D
