Watchdog Groups Report Tricks To Keep Voters Home
NAACP: Phony Letters, Fliers Targeting Minority Groups

POSTED: 9:03 am EST November 1, 2004
UPDATED: 9:40 pm EST November 1, 2004

WASHINGTON -- There are some nasty tricks being played on potential voters, according to lawyers with groups that are monitoring pre-election activities in a number of battleground states.

In the hotly contested state of Pennsylvania, some people have received official-looking phony letters that say because the turnout is going to be so large that only Republicans should vote Tuesday, and the Democrats should wait until Wednesday, which -- of course -- is too late.

Pennsylvania Attorney General Jerry Pappert said several senior citizens have reported that someone has been calling them and telling them their voter registration has expired and not to bother showing up at the polls Tuesday, reported WGAL-TV in Lancaster, Pa.

The attorney general's office is investigating. Tampering with people's right to vote can carry a prison term of six months to five years.

The NAACP says most of the phony fliers and phone calls are targeting black, Hispanic and elderly voters, including a phony letter circulating in South Carolina and fliers elsewhere that falsely tell voters that if they have unpaid parking tickets and they go to a polling place Tuesday, they'll be arrested and their children will be taken away.

The South Carolina letter is supposedly from the NAACP. The Rev. Joe Darby, vice president of the real South Carolina NAACP, called it "old South Carolina politics" and said he doesn't think people will fall for it. But he does want an investigation.

Darby said he received the letter at his home in Charleston. It had a Columbia postmark with no return address.

He said the letter was an attempt to scare minorities from voting Tuesday because the author of the message assumes black people are in trouble with the law.

The letter also said voters must have a credit check, provide two forms of photo ID, a Social Security card, a voter registration card and a handwriting sample.

Registrars said that's untrue. What's needed is a voter registration card or a state driver's license or a state-issued ID card.

Some of the false material that's been collected has been sent to the Justice Department for investigation.

Voters Warned Of Misleading Political Phone Calls
Detroit, Pontiac Among Michigan Cities Targeted

POSTED: 2:14 pm EST November 1, 2004

LANSING, Mich. -- Voters in Detroit, Grand Rapids, Flint and Pontiac have been targeted by phone calls trying to get them to oppose Democratic presidential candidate John Kerry by falsely implying that Kerry would make gay marriage legal, a spokesman for Kerry's Michigan campaign said Monday.

Both Kerry and his running mate, U.S. Sen. John Edwards, oppose gay marriage and say marriage should be limited to a man and a woman. Kerry has said he supports civil unions.

In the phone calls, a young woman tells those answering the phone: "When you vote this Tuesday remember to legalize gay marriage by supporting John Kerry. We need John Kerry in order to make gay marriage legal for our city. Gay marriage is a right we all want. It's a basic Democrat principle. It's time to move forward and be progressive. Without John Kerry, George Bush will stop gay marriage. That's why we need Kerry. So Tuesday, stand up for gay marriage by supporting John Kerry."

The phone calls began early Sunday afternoon, according to Rodell Mollineau, spokesman for Kerry's Michigan campaign. No number appears on the Caller ID of most recipients, he said.

"We're shocked and pretty much appalled that Republicans would sink to this in the last 48 hours of the campaign," Mollineau said.

Michigan Republican Party executive director Greg McNeilly said recorded phone calls have been made by former Michigan football coach Bo Schembechler and by President Bush to Michigan voters, but he didn't know anything about the calls being discussed by the Kerry campaign.

"All of our calls have disclaimers on them," McNeilly said.

GOP officials have been getting reports of phone calls being made by a person who says he's representing the Bush campaign, and then unlooses a string of swear words. Another phone call purportedly tells voters they've been drafted for military service because Bush needs them for the war in Iraq.

"There are so many reports of phone calls going on right now that appear to be untoward," McNeilly said.

They've trace some of the most heinous tricks right up to Tom Corbin, a W adviser. There are some examples of shady stuff happening on the Democratic side, also. However, it doesn't go up the chain of command like it does on the right wing. Remember, if you vote for W, you just encourage this nasty behavior.

Scumbag Democrat Election Tricks
This morning there were flyers on all the cars in the neighborhood that said the polling place had been changed to the High School, this of course was not the case. Didn't work apparently as the line at the Education Center was huge!

At about the time our original 13 states adopted their new constitution, in the year 1787, Alexander Tyler (a Scottish history professor at The University of Edinburgh) had this to say about \"The Fall of The Athenian Republic\" some 2,000 years prior.

"A democracy is always temporary in nature; it simply cannot exist as a permanent form of government. A democracy will continue to exist up until the time that voters discover that they can vote themselves generous gifts from the public treasury. From that moment on, the majority always votes for the candidates who promise the most benefits from the public treasury, with the result that every democracy will finally collapse due to loose fiscal policy, (which is) always followed by a dictatorship."

"The average age of the world's greatest civilizations from the beginning of history has been about 200 years. During those 200 years, these nations always progressed through the following sequence:

From bondage to spiritual faith;

From spiritual faith to great courage;

From courage to liberty;

From liberty to abundance;

From abundance to complacency;

From complacency to apathy;

From apathy to dependence;

From dependence back into bondage."

Ian McDonald - Keyboards, Reeds, Vocals
Mike Giles - Drums

HPM, the polls will be closed for lunch between 9 AM and 6 PM. So, try and get there before or after those times. If you show up after 6:00PM and before 7 PM, you must be there with Treebait or else this will invalidate your vote. This way they can corroborate that you are married. Now, if you get there after 7 PM, but before 8:30, then your child must be there. If they are not, the FBI will come and take them. Then, you have to go to the Miami office. Your child will be there. When you get in the door, the man in the sweater will be singing, "it's a lovely day in the neighborhood". You will have to wait until the end of Act 4 of Mr. Ashcroft's Neighborhood. Then, and only then, can you take them home. My advice would be to vote at exactly 8:58 PM...

I want a whole new federal guideline for voting. One registration per person. One vote. Must show proof of identity when you go to the polls and a rock solid way to vote. It's obviouse no matter who wins there's going to be law suites. I don't want amulance chasers swaying jack chit. I also want to see precincts as a "no go" zone. No lawyers allowed. No political parties allowed and no Fatass Moore putting cameras around my state again.

sumbag democrats
I wrote to you in May about the lengths to which Democrats went in an attempt to influence the outcome of the 2004 elections, specifically, the Washington State Governor's race. Our Republican candidate, Dino Rossi, actually won the election, and then the recount, before then Democrat-controlled King County "found" 566 new votes just in time for a second recount, enough to overturn the results of Election Day and the first recount. The judge who presided over the court case that followed, actually said "this election may not be set aside simply because the number of fraudulent votes exceeds the margin of victory" when he issued his ruling against the Republican challenge.

Now, The American Center for Voting Rights Legislative Fund (ACVR Legislative Fund), a non-partisan, non-profit organization has released a new report documenting how thousands of Americans were disenfranchised during the 2004 elections because paid Democrat operatives were heavily involved in voter intimidation and suppression.

A few of examples include:

Coordinated efforts by certain "non-partisan" organizations to disrupt the election process in at least 12 states through voter registration fraud

Democrat operatives convicted for tire-slashing on GOP election day vans in Milwaukee

An Ohio court order stopping Democrat operatives from calling Republican voters telling them the wrong date for the election, and location for polling places
The report also indicated that the following were the top 5 "hot spots" in the nation for voter fraud:

1. Philadelphia, PA
2. Milwaukee, WI
3. Seattle, WA
4. St. Louis, MO/East St. Louis, IL
5. Cleveland, OH

We encourage you to view the ACVR report in it's entirety at www.ac4vr.com and forward this to your friends and family.

Fight back today by calling talk radio and writing letters to the editor describing the Democrats' efforts to undermine American's voting system.

Sincerely,

Michael DuHaime
RNC Political Director
