This is the FIRST...
and I hope last time I don't vote. After tons of reading, research, soul searching, I couldn't convince myself to vote of either of those lying, cheating, decieving, no-do-gooders.

People that I've talked to said that they were voting for one or the other cause they disliked one candidated less than the other.

I don't believe in that attitude. Voting for someone you don't like just because you dislike the other person more is STUPID.

Even the local elections in Missouri had candidates that SUCK sand, in the county, the candidates were awful, known liars and cheaters, the town candidates were horrible, also known liars and cheaters.

This is the first time, that my dislike of the Government has led me to truely believe that the system is broke.

The government SUCKS and has absolutely NOTHING to do with "We the people".

We the people have been forgotten by the people that are supposed to be looking out for US. Nowhere in the Constitution, Declaration of Independance, Gettysburg address, Bill of Rights, is it mention that Democrats or Republicans shall decide our fates. I hate Democrats AND Republicans equally.

My senior citizens can't afford medicine, children can read or can't get medicine, people live in squallor, Women can't get free breast cancer exams, there are NO cures for ANYTHING. But, we can take over other countries, we can rebuild other societies, we can allow ileagle aliens into our country to kill and maime us.

No people, I didn't vote. Like a wise ent once said..."I'm not on anyones side, because no one is on my side". The government takes from me what I earn, and they give me back NOTHING! I don't feel any safer after 911. I know if I get cancer, I'll probably die, I know that there is NO money in cures or safety, or peace...the government knows it too, and perpetuates the hipcrocacy that it always has.

It keeps minorities in check, it has always taken what it wants, whenever it wants...It is NOT accountable to ANYONE!!! America is GREAT...the government sucks!

I WILL be counted!
Several candidates for local offices ran unopposed. I didn't like many of them and therefore didn't vote for them, but did vote for other offices on the ballot, and thus my "vote" counted in the tallies. I found it ammusing that while winning their office, many of these unopposed candidates won with only 40% of the vote...lol! If that doesn't send a message, I don't know what does. And it does a lot more good than not voting at all.

Stik, Not only is treebait right about there being other candidates on the ballot, you likely had the ability to write in someone, including yourself. I respect your opinion about neither major presidential candidate deserving your vote, although I disagree. But that's why you have other options, especially the write-in. In our local elections, we had some very good candidates, so I had no trouble voting for the ones I voted for. If you didn't, why not write yourself in? Or a respected friend or colleague? I see the purpose of voting as making a statement about who you think can do the best job. It's OK to vote for someone other than major candidates. IMO, it's not OK to not vote, then complain about what the winners do. So you won't be complaining, right?

No, I'll be watching and...
complaining for the next 4 years. I'm going to get more involved with activism...maybe to the point of ressurecting the black panthers. I dislike politics in all its forms. I dislike religion in all its forms, I dislike hate, intolerence, and bigotry in all its forms.

Imagine if all the people could live in peace, imagine if all the people had shoes on their feet, imagine if all the people had homes, food, health. But of course thats not what motivates politicians. Greed, power, control...thats politics. And I don't like it and never have and never will.

this system has gone to peices over the last 50 years and will continue to do so. there is so much wealth in the top 10 richest people, that poverty, disease, and hunger could be wiped out by just the top 10. The Gates Foundation alone has over 34 BILLION dollars in its coffers. the next closest foundation only has 3 Billion. Thats 37 BILLION dollars. Thats enough money to wipe out many of the ills in the world.

Enough said, I've said it, done it and will stand by it. Now...shut up and get on with your miserable lives, cause I sure will get on with my miserable life (which happens to not be so miserable)

I did vote, but I don't see what the point of voting is (at least for President) if you live in a state like Massachusetts, New York, Illinois, Texas, or California.

For all of those states, all the press agencies called for each of those states to vote along their traditional party lines immediately after their respective polls closed (with 0% precincts reporting).

So my question is what's the point of voting in those states? At least in the swing states, you get the impression that you stand a chance of impacting the vote....

In order for a write-in to be counted you have to file a 'Declaration of Intent' with each state you want people to vote for you. It's a bit under handed if you ask me but I guess it prevents people from just going to town with the write-in vote.

Thomas Zych was running. He didn't get my vote but his web site has some pretty funny views on the issues. Of course, there are legitimate party's trying to break into the system that need support from those of us that are fed up. The Libertarians, Greens, and the Constitutionalists are some. Before the election I downloaded a list of all candidates from my states web site and researched all of them. That's how I found Thomas Zych. His education policy had me rolling on the ground!
