Q, that was the predicted final results dated Nov 2

the swing states are the main ones, according to that map Kerry loses Ohio and Wi but wins Florida.

Only time will tell how accurate that chart is..so far so good

I'm still stunned the majority bought into the lies and bad policies (environment, economic, education, war, etc.) for four more years. Bush's own camp admited long ago that scaring the public enough would sway them their way.

It worked.

This is a snippet from an e-mail my wife sent to a friend.

"One student, nice woman (maybe not too sharp), asked me why I had voted for Kerry. I told her that I was in opposition to the war, there were no weapons of mass destruction and that I had participated in the international march against it in February of 2002. I told her that I was worried about the connection of the Bushes to the Bin Ladens. I told her that I was worried for my two friends who are in the publishing business and had been gainfully employed for over twenty years apiece and who have found themselves out of work since July. I told her that I was worried for their children who do not have health insurance. I told her that I was worried for the two young people I know who are in the Marines and overseas along with my Army guy's son and Kim's nephew who is to be deployed before Christmas. I am awed by my neighbor who lost her son in March and still makes it to the marches, the rallies and the polling place. I told her that I was in opposition of "No Child Left Behind" as it would certainly leave one of mine behind if I allowed it. I mean when the Terra Nova people filled in the bar graph with his comparative scores, they wrote that he had achieved mastory. Jesus, Christ, don't they have spell check on their computers? I told her that I was worrying about the economy, energy and the environment. I told her that I was worried about the man I met at BJ's Wholesale club (A self described lifelong Democrat buying provisions for his nephew in the Marines because he wasn't getting what he needed from my government. He bought canned tuna and baby wipes.) who was voting for Bush, "the lesser of two evils." He thought we should "nuke 'em". He should really read Reading Lolita in Tehran. I told her that my children were quickly approaching eighteen. I told her that if we didn't pull it together there would be no escape.

And when I asked her why she voted for Bush, she said, "I don't like Theresa Heinz Kerry." There's an issue. I hate outspoken women, don't you? I walked out of the room. To throw up."

It's a shame that many will not understand what has really happened here. Their is a version of reality that liberals like to call the "Truth," they don't understand that just because they say something is the truth doesn't make it so. In the Red states this liberal "truth" is called "lies" and I suppose vice versa for the red "truth" in the blue states. A majority of the people in this country believe in a "Truth" that is vastly different from yours. You can whine all you want about why they believe that, but those who believe differently from you can also make up plenty of reasons for why you would vote for Kerry despite all of his "lies."

Very true. He may be very happy in 2 years that his isn't the one in office. All of B's bad policies must come back to bite all of us some time, and it'll be sooner rather than later.

The economy/job market will continue to tank.
We will have another terrorist attack on home soil.
The environment will continue to be more heavily polluted.
There will be no beginning of a solution to the staggering energy crisis (we will be out of oil within 100 years!).
Plenty of kids will be left behind because there still isn't funding for it.

Unfortunately whomever we get in 4 years will have an even bigger mess to clean up - literally and figuratively.

Economy - Please! Look for yourself.
Terrorist Attacks--You think Kerry would be better for this! Come on! Lets fight a more sensitive war? Ha
Environment - We do need more parking and besides we still have a lot of resources left to use.
Kids left behind - Well the world needs ditch diggers too.

In all I think you will be please these next four years. America needs people like you to pick up garbage on the side of the road. And remember "FOUR MORE YEARS!"

Bison, its been proven by our own troops who have searched far and wide that there were no WMD. Documents released to the public prove that the White House knew this ahead of time.

Scientists agree we will be out of oil within 100 years. That means no gasoline, no home heating oil, a lot less propane (most propane is made from processing oil), only synthetic lubricants for machines. The entire world economy will go into a depression so deep it will make the 1930's in the US look like a Presidential inaugural party. There will be mass death. We need to start on renewable solutions NOW.

Islamic nations continue to be pissed off at us more and more, only provoking the terrorists more.

No Child Left Behind hasn't been funded, so lots of children are left behind (my wife is a teacher, she sees this first-hand).

All these points are fact, not red or blue "lies" or opinion.

"Documents released to the public prove that the White House knew this ahead of time."

This is where you get into complete idiocy, I can only assume that you are referring to the leaked intelligence estimates.

You could easily say that other intelligence estimates prove that there were WMD there (Including many estimates that went into both sides of the issue for and against). In which case if we hadn't gone to war you could make the exact opposite argument, Why haven't we done something about this when documents that the White House has prove that they know that Saddam has the weapons.

I find it hard to believe that some people who don't look into the issue fully and only accept one side of the argument without even giving the slightest lip service to the other side, thereby denying the reality that there is another equally compelling side to the argument. That these people call those who would vote based on the other side of that argument unsophisticated. Ridiculous.

There were many at high levels that told him Iraq wasn't even close to being a threat. Bush made it clear even before 9/11 that he was going after Iraq one way or another during his term. He ignored all those people and used the few "positive proof" reports he had to create a reason to finish his Daddy's war.

And what about the oil crisis, or education, or pissing off the Islams? It will be hard for our children to be productive members of society when they have no education and society is crubling around them due to oil shortages (and resulting price spikes), and with terrorist strikes every week.

The oil issue is much bigger than all the others. In the first 50 years as oil becomes more scarce its price will go up. That will make it more expensive to move all materials anywhere - food prices, lumber prices, not to mention gas prices all will spike incredibly. Lubricating oil will become scarce or too expensive for all the machinery in all the factories everywhere. This will devastate poor people here and whole poor nations all over the world. Then in the next 50 years there won't even be enough oil for those that can still afford it. Mass starvation. Economies ground to a halt. We'll be back in the 1800's technologically.

And what is Bush's energy proposal? Boost the oil industry so it becomes even more integral to how our society functions. Sure, he is pushing hydrogen (a little). Guess where most of that will be made from? Oil.

Bison, basically it comes down to whether you believe there were WMD in Iraq or not. If you want to believe they were there fine but to insult people because they don't believe they were there is ridiculous.

Based on the information that came out originally we were told WMD's existed in Iraq. This information came from US intelligence reports. Bush, Kerry and the vast majority of Americans believed it. But as time went on it turned out to be false information.
Personally, if the President and everyone else who thought the WMD's were there said, we made a mistake!! it might have been a lot better than still trying to persuade the American people they had WMD's.

IMO if Bush had said we are invading Iraq to stop the genocide that would have been different. I even think you mentioned something about that in another post. Only problem with that is we are allowing genocide to take place in other parts of the world where the US has no interest (oil).

MarkO - sorry for the omission. That is another very valid point, although I sort of roll that up under the "economy" umbrella. Big enough to stand on its own, though.

Ewker - yup, very sad to see the genocide being reported elsewhere right now. Almost too bad there isn't oil there to give us the excuse to get in there. :-(

The "genocide" in Iraq occured years ago, it was not on-going.

Most of that went on during the war with Iran.

Most certainly Hussein was having political enemies killed regularly, but the slaugter of Shiites happened right after the '91 war and of Kurds and Iranians a few years earlier.

MarkO, a lot of the genocide took place after the Gulf War when Bush Sr was in office. Instead of going in and taking out Hussein Bush Sr let him off the hook (bad mistake) Hussein started the genocide against the Kurds right after that because of them helping us. We didn't storm in then to help.
