You have been listening to Cheney too long. I honestly don't believe that by attacking Iraq, we were making a choice between fighting terrorists on our soil as opposed to theirs. Hell, your own president changed his reasons for attacking so many times, the argument isn't even supported by what you say.” 9:59:47 AM 11/03/04 “I believe manuka just spoke for alot of people.” 9:59:53 AM 11/03/04 “All immigration data would disagree with your statement. Most legal and illegal immigrants that I've met would stay permanently here at the drop of a hat if they could figure out how to get their family here. Have you traveled to the 2nd or 3rd world much? last edited: 11/03/04 10:06:46 AM” 10:03:14 AM 11/03/04 “Good post, Manuka!” 10:03:47 AM 11/03/04 “Manuka - Do you not think that the $200 billion spent on the Iraq wqar could not have been better spent securing America. For aexample, scanning every container that enters the country?” 10:08:44 AM 11/03/04 “ ”10:08:47 AM 11/03/04 “No. This is where I'm going to sound like a Republican and will probably recieve quite a bit of grief for the following satement. I don't think it should be so easy for people with little to offer to the States to be able to gain easy access, bring the system down, and drain the economy. I would prefer that those individuals coming into the country to make the big bucks & leave, would stay because they actually have high level skills, high levels of education, money, - in other words, can make a truely positive contribution to the States. I'm tired of seeing our high level positions going to people from outside countries - living here only for a brief period of time to make their gains - because our education system is so weak that our own people don't have the neccessary skills for these roles. I'm also tired of seeing our lower level jobs being taken away from our people and going to 2nd & 3rd world level folks because they are so desperarte for work and money that they will work for peanuts.” 10:09:38 AM 11/03/04 “Seems like you guys may be celebrating just a wee bit prematurely.” 10:10:38 AM 11/03/04 “I suggest you turn on your TV.” 10:12:34 AM 11/03/04 “Differing is good Treebeard, but I have never listened to a speech by Cheney or read anything written by Cheney. I do read newspapers from the US, UK, NZ, and very occasionally Australia. I do watch the news on cable TV from the BBC and a German News program that comes on our cable because the local high schools have a strong German language program. I have travelled through Pakistan, Iran, Afghanistan, Iraq, and Syria and have some idea of living conditions there. I also lived and worked in a 3rd world country for several years, different from touristing. I would expect that my opinions would differ from yours as on something as basic as where to live you choose the city, and I the country.” 10:12:53 AM 11/03/04 “Seems like you guys may be celebrating just a wee bit prematurely. LOL! Violin, wrong again! So much for that Kerry landslide!” 10:18:03 AM 11/03/04 “Yeah, our efforts in and preception of education in this country is an issue that will most certainly have to be addressed in the upcoming years of this country.” 10:18:39 AM 11/03/04 “Point taken. I only used Cheney as the example because this was the thrust of his rhetoric. Whatever the source, I think you got where I was coming from, eh?” 10:20:48 AM 11/03/04 “well dang my hoping "None of the above" would win is over. Of course I knew it wouldn't win anyway. lets hope some strong indiviual who actually believes in the people of this country can coming along and pull the divison that is there back together. Neither Bush or Kerry can or would have been able to do that. It will be back to the backstabbing by both parties today or tomorrow.” 10:21:45 AM 11/03/04 “One reason why I'm so against the US dumping so much money into this attack on Iraq. This money could have been used to imorove our education system.” 10:23:44 AM 11/03/04 “Ok - msnbc has it up on their site now. Congratulations Bushies - Praise/blame goes to the Republican majority now.” 10:34:40 AM 11/03/04 “Now, can we get some good Bush bashing going already?” 10:35:50 AM 11/03/04 “Kerry called Bush. CNN is reporting it.” 10:41:17 AM 11/03/04 “I wonder how long it will take Hitlery to throw her hat in the ring for 2008.” 10:42:59 AM 11/03/04 “Manuka - Do you not think that the $200 billion spent on the Iraq wqar could not have been better spent securing America. For aexample, scanning every container that enters the country?” Y2 10:08:44 AM 11/03/04 The figure you quoted for the cost of the war is incorrect. That figure is the total spent on the War on Terror not just Iraq. Besides, most of that money is being used to pay US companies.” 10:43:20 AM 11/03/04 “I'm must glad I don't work in news anymore and can watch all this crap on TV like a normal person.” 10:43:37 AM 11/03/04 “The only positive I can come up with right now is that the winner also won the popular vote by a wide margin. I can’t really understand it but it appears to be a legitimate Bush mandate. Time for the Democratic party to come up with a new southern strategy that will bring blue collar middle America back to voting their own interests over 'values'.” 10:49:38 AM 11/03/04 “Twinks, I don't believe that throwing money into education system is the answer. Actually, I don't believe throwing money at anything will solve anything. When it comes to money their is never enough. In Bama the education system is overall just above Mississippi. However, there are some individual bright school systems who do excellent with less than other areas who can figure out where 2-5 million dollars show up missing every few years. No joke.” 11:02:25 AM 11/03/04 “Y2, short answer is no. The best defense is a good offense. This in no way implies that current action in Iraq is a 'good' offense. I think that Americas strategic goals were better met in the 1st gulf war than the current mess. When the grass gets long you mow the grass, you do not have to remove all the grass and plant a garden. Go in break down their military capability and leave. It is up to the people of Iraq to remove a dictator if they do not like him. Periodic weakening of his military structure gives them opportunity, if they do not take the opportunity why should we force it on them. Any refusal by Saddam to allow UN inspectors to a site should have been responded to with a wing of B-52's carpet bombing the facility within a couple of hours. The invasion of Iraq was a result of years of irresolution by the UN. The UN would not act because internal corruption was making some of them rich. Why is a French or German Haliburton so much better than a US Haliburton ?” 11:05:16 AM 11/03/04 “It appears that less than 25% of the provisional ballots came from Cuyahoga county... Hence Kerry's concession.” 11:13:47 AM 11/03/04 “I didn't say we should throw money at anything.” 11:20:56 AM 11/03/04 “Throw money at me! Throw money at Me! “Excuse me Nigel, but please be informed that these opinions of mine were well-formed PRIOR to Farenheit 9/11. ps - how did ya know I've got a beard? ;)” I was just yankin' yer dick (figurtively). You're a good sport Twinks.” 11:29:24 AM 11/03/04 “time to unclick the feugo threads for few yrs what can we do to get a Liberman/McCain ticket in 08” 11:33:15 AM 11/03/04 Hey Vi, “"Time for the Democratic party to come up with a new southern strategy that will bring blue collar middle America back to voting their own interests over 'values'.”" That's the point that the Dems are missing. Blue-collar values are their own interests” 11:35:04 AM 11/03/04 ““I didn't say we should throw money at anything.” TwinkleToes Sorry twinks, I never ment to make the the accusation the you were implying that. In my neck of the woods they just can't figure out why our schools contine to lack.” 11:39:26 AM 11/03/04 “Besides, Twinks does like throwing money. She preferrs to tuck it into the stripper's g-string banana hammock. LOL!” 11:41:51 AM 11/03/04 “I just hope the buyer's remorse isn't too much for y'all.” 11:58:01 AM 11/03/04 “The enjoyment of pointing outthat you were wrong, you lost and are just bitter will overcome any misgivings I may ever have.” 12:01:59 PM 11/03/04 “Yep - I was wrong. My candidate lost. My fear is that my country is the biggest loser in all this. I'll continue my principled opposition and hope for the best.” 12:05:19 PM 11/03/04 “Amen, V. Well said...” 12:06:42 PM 11/03/04 Typical “Well it seems like typical responses I would see here. I think we could get on to a better America by hearing some congratulations. What do you say people? Lets put our differences aside and give a round of applause to your re-elected President George W. Bush!” 1:38:40 PM 11/03/04 “The country has spoken and said that they feel Bush will fight terrorism better than Kerry, even though Kerry had the .....balls to speak with Katey Couric and say that if he was elected, there would be no terrorist attacks in the U.S. She asked him how he could make that claim, and he didn't have an answer for her. Empty promises. I think Bush is doing a good job coupled with our fight against terrorism and our troops in Iraq, I didn't think this was the time to switch presidents, unless Kerry had spectacular plans, which he didn't. The man had nothing! I would love to see a McCain/Guiliani ticket in the future. Those are two tough men with backbone. Guiliani was great for NY. He had a plan, instituted it, and made NY better, and went after the mafia. He was great!” 2:00:42 PM 11/03/04 “Yep - I was wrong. My candidate lost. My fear is that my country is the biggest loser in all this. I'll continue my principled opposition and hope for the best.” VioliN 12:05:19 PM 11/03/04 Principled Oppostion? Whose principles have you been using? Gobbels'?” 2:03:27 PM 11/03/04 “Violink has posted more lies than the rest of the posters combined.” 2:06:28 PM 11/03/04 “We have a better America to look forward to. Thanks to everyone who voted!” 2:28:16 PM 11/03/04 Meanwhile, back at the ranch... “Some of today's headlines...Six foreigners snatched, US soldier dies as Iraqis watch US election ” 2:34:22 PM 11/03/04 “aero, one of those snatched was a US citizen” 2:35:40 PM 11/03/04 “But, all is going well, America!” 2:36:32 PM 11/03/04 “The same principles that guided the people who held the minority opinions that eventually led to women’s suffrage, emancipation of the slaves, various labor laws, civil rights legislation, environmental protection, etc. I may hold a minority opinion but God and Truth are on my side. We will prevail.” 2:39:18 PM 11/03/04 “ ![]() Can't figure out if this is flattering or not.” 2:48:50 PM 11/03/04 Violink “I may hold a minority opinion but God and Truth are on my side. We will prevail.” VioliN 2:39:18 PM 11/03/04 I can't speak for God, but the truth has been avoiding you.” 3:05:10 PM 11/03/04 “"I may hold a minority opinion but God and Truth are on my side. We will prevail.” Violin wouldn't know the truth if it fell from the sky and humped his face. How's the wife v?” 3:20:07 PM 11/03/04 “nigal and bbw, do you believe everything that Bush has told you to be gospel. Violin and treebread, the same applies with Kerry. I figure about 1/8 of what they say might be true, the rest is BS to sway you. If Kerry had won the things coming out of the Rep. mouth would been just as bad or worse as what we are hearing since Bush won. All of you need to get off your high horse and realize this country is in trouble. Somehow, way, shape or form we have to get back together as one. Unfortunatly I don't see that happening anytime soon. Off my soapbox now. I am sure some of you will flame me. Personally I don't care, you do what you have to do.” 3:33:30 PM 11/03/04 ““nigal and bbw, do you believe everything that Bush has told you to be gospel." When did I ever claim this? because I point out the fact that Violin is a liar means I blindly follow Bush? Where have you been? I have aired my own displeasure with Bush many times. Highhorse? LOL! The only high ground I claim is that I am a man of my word and don't lie and Violin does.” 3:40:44 PM 11/03/04 “The Democrats were wrong again. They said that large voter turnout would benefit them…wrong. They said that new voters would benefit them…wrong. They said that Hispanic voters would benefit them…wrong. Legions of lawyers couldn’t help the left. Their base is mostly concentrated in the cities and areas with large percentages of bureaucrats on the government payroll. NY voted overwhelmingly for Kerry. Kalifornia voted overwhelmingly for Kerry. Illinois voted for Kerry. Washington D.C. voted 90% for Kerry. But what happened to the other Democrats? What happened to the scholastically isolated? Those champions of the “working man” who chat over coffee in the halls of academia with their Karl Marx coffee table books and their illogical philosophical justifications? What happened to the reality isolated Hollywood types? Those champions of the “working man” who cruise the high seas on their private yachts, cruise the skies in their private planes, criticize SUVs, and pretend-play at understanding the “working man.” What happened to the socially isolated, artistically inclined, brie and chablis set with their Volvos and season tickets to the local playhouse? Those who think it’s chic to think of themselves as friends of the”working man.” What happened to the angry, Michael Moore, ABB, “liberal” left? What happened to the socialist left who see government as a growth industry? Those who keep calling for “strong” government so that they can increase their voting base and bleed productive members of society dry while distributing other people’s money as they see fit? In the end it came down to the “working man.” It came down to the heartland of America. It came down to the real “working man” in the rural areas of the country. Morality was a huge issue according to exit polls. The same morality that makes it impossible for most rural folks to ethically justify the forced redistribution of wealth through taxation. Florida was a microcosm. The big city populations and government centers voted Democrat. The “working man” rural areas voted Republican. Our office was a microcosm. Two of our top directors and our VP voted Democrat. All of our support (secretarial) staff voted Republican. I’ll bet there are many Democrats who are in shock. They lost the presidential election, lost seats in Congress, lost 4 seats in the Senate, and the Senate minority leader was deposed. I’ll bet there are many Democrats who don’t know anyone who voted Republican. The Democrats are deluding themselves if they think they are champions of the “working man.” Their tax-and-spend giveaways to the economically challenged don’t play well with the average “working man” who works hard to put food on his family’s table. Their condescending view of government as paternalistic caretaker doesn’t play well with the average “working man.” Most Democrats are completely out of touch with the average “working man.” The evil forces of socialism have been thwarted... for now.” 3:46:00 PM 11/03/04
