It's my birthday and my boss just informed me that he's being let go and returning to his country in 2 or 3 weeks.

I think I will also be let go.

This sucks. Guess that means no more school?

I'm so depressed - feel like stoping for a drink on my way to class this afternoon.

Going back to his country?

Maybe he's afraid of Dubya

well... look at the bright side

haven't you been complaining lately that school is taking too much of your time lately?

not much of a bright side, but hey, it's something.

Sympathy...?
it's in the dictionary between "suicide" and "syphillis." Just kidding, I hope things work out for you.

Here's one of the sayings that I most despise (and there are many): "God never closes a door without opening another."

Oh yeah sure Sacco, only the most important thing in my life and that's the bright side? Thanks. Much appreciated.

First of all Happy Birthday!

No More School?

If there is a possibilty you may be let go can't you use that reason to get some type of aid financially? I would look into it.

Hang in there!

Twinkle-- definitely contact your financial aid office if you lose your job-- depending on your financial situation, they can usually make adjustments so that you can continue to finish your education... (I work for a university and have seen students do it before.)

In the meantime, do what one of my friends did-- when he thought he might be losing his job, he worked HARDER... lucky for him, the boss could see that he wasn't slacking and then they actually retained his position vs. laying him off because they could see that he was a valuable employee.... (not sure if it would work in your situation, but as always, it's never good to burn bridges-- you never know when you might need a recommendation by this employer down the road.)

Bosses are let go...
...for any number of reasons, like incompetence, that doesn't mean YOU will be following...If you're good, and contributing, then you will remain, perhaps to train his replacement or you BECOME his replacement....

yeah, i agree with pinkbubz and Snake.

Don't assume the worst - not yet. Chill out and keep doing your job.

at least until they give you the boot - then wreak as much havoc as you possibly can!

This would be burning bridges. It's something I highly advise against doing, no matter how good you think it will make you feel in the short run.

BTW, Happy B'day, twinks. Hope it all works out for you. Just because a boss is let go, doen't mean the employees are let go.

If things go badly, you can always go live at The Treehouse.
