An open letter
I am posting this here as carthitic release, not for sympathy. If you know who my bro was and read his books, then you know the story. If not then read on.

gc AKA ww

Godspeed brother.

This year hasn’t been easy, but what year has been? They say that when it rains it pours, and my life is an umbrella and yours has been as well, just there were more buckets at the end of your shelter than mine.

I am amazed by you, bro. You’ve done things that none of the other brothers ever had the talent to do. You’ve been famous and infamous, when the latter is all I could ever achieve. I've lived life on brute force, gut instinct and sheer will. You lived on a whim, an inspiration and a word processor.

You were in the NY Times, the LA Weekly and Publisher’s Weekly on your own work. I helped those on CNN, the LA Times and OC Register.

We are in different leagues, bro.

We chose different paths. Yours was by the seat of your pants all the way. There was no variance. Mine was a bit more structured and more defined.

I’ve always wanted yours but knew I could never fight your battles, and you could never fight mine, yet I’ve always looked fondly on how you handled life, no matter how #&%!$ed up.

You thought all good writers had to be Hemmingway and you tried to emulate him in a gay way, and for that, I give you props. You never waivered from your ideals, no matter how messed up.

I spend my life fighting those that screw us, you spent yours fighting you.

God, how our demons are were so different bro, yet I still understand and understood you, and you me.

I’ll miss you, bro.

You led my misguided light and helped light the flame that burns now. My David wouldn\'t be anything without your f-ed up guidance.

Godspeed bro. Godspeed.

I can understand. My brother gave me so much and I gave him so little. Good luck.

Random Good Thoughts, Pal
Read one?

I've got a couple of brothers.
Did you lose one?

I'm the second son of a second son and I have three sons.
Actually my dad was the third son but the oldest did not survive childhood, dying before poppa was born.
I like to think of my #2 son as the second son of a second son of a second son.
There ain't not sevenths here, but there's a song in it somewhere.

My second son and I share a pretty good talent for blues guitar.

I can only imagine the pain.

My extended family is large.

Sooner or later we'll take a hit.......just lucky so far.

Sorry for your loss, ww.

I'm blessed that I haven't lost any of my immediate family. I can't fathom the pain and loss.
