How awesome! Something's wrong with our computer and we get no sound. This might be worth taking it into the shop for repair.

Will the play lists be shown?

Thanks, I got a call from one friend of mine that is part of this "splinter group" that was on the outs with another broadcast station that we used to work with in Northwest New Jersey. He gave me the name of a guy that had put some money together and started this 'grass roots' internet radio station. I spoke to the man and gave him my background and my ideas and he liked what he heard and gave me the Saturday afternoon slot on there. It's a bit of a drive from home, but I am psyched for the opportunity to do this again. Radio has been in my blood for most of my life now. I did my first broadcast in 1977 and my asprirations in this business go back to the late 60's/early 70's. So, it's something that I have really missed and once in a while question as to whether leaving it was a good move or not, but here is a good a opportunity to sharpen back up those skills.

The gentleman that took me on me asked me for some sort of title for the show. Last night, it occurred to me that recycling an old show that used to be household program name locally back in Tampa in the 70's would be appropriate for what I am doing. SO, The UNDERGROUND RAILROAD will roll again, assuming I get approval on the title. This should be fun.

So, I start my advertising here and try to drum up listenership with you lucky recipients! Saturday 2PM is my premier...

Sass, I am not sure. I checked out the station and listened for a while last night for the first time, so I am not quite used to the layout yet. But, I will find out.

BTW, the sound quality was really good...

It should be one of those pretty eclectic formats, which will go all over the road. I am going to do deep cuts into classic rock as well as mixing it in with a bit of up-to-date material...

Are you taking requests? Could you play a little Barry Manilow?

NICE! Can't wait to listen.

45 minutes past the hour, you got it tuned in with Treebeard Mack Daddy!

This next song goes out to all of my George Bush friends out there. Let's hear what the Talking Heads have to say.

tree, you gonna do any jazz fusion or electronica

That could be done, Ewk. I don't own a whole lot of electronic material, but I want to make this as diverse as possible without overdoing it, if you know what i mean...

Yeah DHA is good, I listen too. Never heard of WNTI though.

I went to college with Matt Pinfield. He was on the college station and it's been kinda neat to follow his career.

I look forward to listening to your show as the TT connection will make it extra cool.

Pinfield is on K-Rock Sunday nights now. He was a V-jay on MTV for a while and did a good show on a progressive Jersey shore station before that.

The correct response to BowlderMan is you'll play Manilow as soon as you can get to it, Treebeard.

That's the line we used on the weirdos when I co-hosted a show on my high school station. I think most of our 12 or 13 listeners were just strung along that way.

a coupla months back i was listening to th eonly "real" college station in Philly and some kid was playing stuff he must have found in his parents basement. Late 60s acid rock and off the wall stuff. You just don't hear Uriah Heep much anymore.

Uriah Heep? I liked them way back when...
The Wizard
He was the wizard of a thousand kings
and a chance to meet him one night wondering.
He told me tales and he drank my wine.
Me and my magic man kinda feeling fine.

He had a cloak of gold and eyes of fire.
And as he spoke I felt a deep desire
to free the world of its fear and pain
and help the people to feel free again.

Why don't we listen to the voices in our hearts?
Cause then I know we'll find we're not so far apart.
Everybody's got to be happy, everyone should see.
For we know the joy of life and peace that love can bring.

So spoke the wizard in his mountain home.
The vision of his wisdom means we'll never be alone.
And I will dream of my magic night
and the million silver stars that guide me with their light.

70's Music
I watched 'This is Spinal Tap' last night.
Funny, but true for a lot of bands.
That Uriah Heep song was a lot like one in the movie, LOL.

How about Country Joe and the Fish?

Yeah, come on all of you, big strong men,
Uncle Sam needs your help again.
He's got himself in a terrible jam
Way down yonder in Vietnam
So put down your books and pick up a gun,
We're gonna have a whole lotta fun.

And it's one, two, three,
What are we fighting for ?
Don't ask me, I don't give a damn,
Next stop is Vietnam;
And it's five, six, seven,
Open up the pearly gates,
Well there ain't no time to wonder why,
Whoopee! we're all gonna die.

Well, come on generals, let's move fast;
Your big chance has come at last.
Gotta go out and get those reds —
The only good commie is the one who's dead
And you know that peace can only be won
When we've blown 'em all to kingdom come.

And it's one, two, three,
What are we fighting for ?
Don't ask me, I don't give a damn,
Next stop is Vietnam;
And it's five, six, seven,
Open up the pearly gates,
Well there ain't no time to wonder why
Whoopee! we're all gonna die.

Huh!
Well, come on Wall Street, don't move slow,
Why man, this is war au-go-go.
There's plenty good money to be made
By supplying the Army with the tools of the trade,
Just hope and pray that if they drop the bomb,
They drop it on the Viet Cong.

And it's one, two, three,
What are we fighting for ?
Don't ask me, I don't give a damn,
Next stop is Vietnam.
And it's five, six, seven,
Open up the pearly gates,
Well there ain't no time to wonder why
Whoopee! we're all gonna die.

Well, come on mothers throughout the land,
Pack your boys off to Vietnam.
Come on fathers, don't hesitate,
Send 'em off before it's too late.
Be the first one on your block
To have your boy come home in a box.

And it's one, two, three
What are we fighting for ?
Don't ask me, I don't give a damn,
Next stop is Vietnam.
And it's five, six, seven,
Open up the pearly gates,
Well there ain't no time to wonder why,
Whoopee! we're all gonna die

Uriah Heep is one of those great 'forgotten' bands that get no airplay.

Chuck, I have a copy of Country Joes first LP, "Electric Music for the Mind and Body". That's got some cosmik stuff on there...
