a ROLLUP grill “http://www.rollngo.net/EZRollUp.htm I found this....I think it's cool...check out the Mini version at 16 oz's” 1:41:23 PM 11/09/04 Yeah, it's a GEAR thread... “Wanna make somethin' of it?” 1:42:58 PM 11/09/04 “What the hell is a gear thread doing on this site? It looks pretty cool. I could see it coming in handy when canoe camping. I'd like to see one in action.” 1:46:44 PM 11/09/04 “Yeah, it's a GEAR thread... “Wanna make somethin' of it?” SuperTroll 1:42:58 PM 11/09/04 NO! I want to make something WITH IT!” 1:49:11 PM 11/09/04 funny stuff... “I usually just dig a hole, pour in charcoal, light it on fire and use a round grill grate on a couple of rocks. Nothing fancy here. grill grate...8.95 at walmart. that thing wouldn't hold a dutch oven either...and who canoes without a dutch oven to cook brownies and cakes in anyway... Darn stinkin backpackers...always thinkin light weight...LOL...” 1:54:51 PM 11/09/04 “I have canoed with out the dutch oven” 1:59:35 PM 11/09/04 “For car camping, has any ever had the "newspaper grill"? I was introduced to this grill by a friend a few years ago--I think it used to be sold via an infomercial or something....(I got mine for a steal when the local Dunham's Sports decided to clearance them off of their shelves-- I bought 2!) This this is absolutely the greatest when road tripping or car-camping with a bunch of hungry kids-- All you need is newspaper, some hotdogs or hamburgers and in about 3 minutes, you're eating like a king or queen! :-) http://www.cajun-outdoor-cooking.com/arctic_grill/table_top_newspaper_grill.htm ”2:00:54 PM 11/09/04 “I've never canoed with a dutch oven. I figure I can fit more beer in the boat that way.” 2:02:34 PM 11/09/04 Yay Pink! “I have one of these, I know it sounds crazy, but it works...but guess what? when I was in the Army, I used it to burn my classified papers, usually while I made my morning chocolate, or heated water to shave...LOL. Haven't thought about it for years..it's in the storage building out back... HEY STIKMON... Who says the larger steel one won't work? Don't use the legs, place it over your hole and use it as you do the other...now go pack your round grill into your pack for those packing trips...(You DO still BP don'cha?)” 2:08:43 PM 11/09/04 “most people don't take grills on a backpacking trip. If you do you can get one smaller and lighter than the ones in the link last edited: 11/09/04 2:23:30 PM” 2:19:31 PM 11/09/04 no grilling on backpacing trips... “dehydrated meals all the way. and plus...a smart backpacker has his canoe buddies float the beer, food and dutch ovens (and gear) down to the river side float camp. LOL yeah, I still backpack. I'll be seeing you soon in Alabama, I hope.” 2:23:03 PM 11/09/04 “I used one of those newspaper grills in Oklahoma back in the '70's. It worked well and was about the only way I found all the news to be digestable.” 2:36:20 PM 11/09/04 Geez, what's missing here...? “...? oh! I know; we all just discussed a gear thing, disagreed, had other suggestions etc., and NOBODY dissed anothers mental capacity or lineage...GEAR threads are BETTER than Political ones....fact! Stikmon, come on down, and I'll carry the grill AND the oven on the trip (MY oven, not the Dutch one...gonna teach you to bake in an oven that weighs just 8 oz's and can cook an entire roast...)” 2:38:56 PM 11/09/04 “The newspaper grill is awesome-- it's great when you want a quick burger or hot dog (or chicken breast, roast corn, etc.) and don't want to deal with a campfire-- I've used it roadside many a time on a long road trip... What I like is that once the paper is done burning, you only have a few ashes. We usually wrap the grill paddle with foil and put the used ashes inside the foil for a quick and easy clean-up... Beats trying to make a fire when you don't have the time to wait for it to burn out, etc. My friends had 1 and 3 year old kids at the time -- this need little grill was able to satisfy their need to be fed right away when they started to fuss! :-)” 2:52:33 PM 11/09/04 “Only an inbred degenerate would like one of those stoves. oops sorry I thought this was a fuego thread. ;)” 2:58:35 PM 11/09/04 “Sure. sure... wait until you put your foot in it and have it roasted off in 3 minutes...” 4:26:00 PM 11/09/04 “Uuuhhh...you mean there's something wrong with being an inbred degenerate? Around here it's pretty much the top level of the social strata.” 4:40:23 PM 11/09/04 “well, maybe the degenerate part... can't vouch for the inbred part...” 4:51:49 PM 11/09/04 “Did you guys hear Arafart is dead?” 5:27:44 PM 11/09/04 “Just kidding! That looks like a cool get up there. I have a grill that folds shut and has a handle on it. I like it because you can cook more evenly and adjust the grill away from the direct fire.” 5:29:24 PM 11/09/04 “Cook a hamburger in three minutes? WTF? Is it charred or raw?” 6:11:00 PM 11/09/04 “No-- it cooks it really well-- you just keep adding balls of newspaper into the grill to keep the fire going strong... Very yumm-- quick cooked AND juicy!) Because it's in the metal "cage", you can flip sides really easily (I use aluminum foil to wrap the grill so that cleaning up is easier and so that the hamburger doesn't get too burned.” 10:31:52 AM 11/10/04 “Pretty nifty contraption, but a full pound? With the exception of ground meats, it's pretty easy to just whittle a stick and prod some hot dogs or even a steak on it. Just my 2 cents.” 5:37:25 AM 11/11/04 ST... “Your on...I'm looking at DH's "walls of jerico" trip...and plus...I've been down "YOUR way" plenty of times...I think its high time that you and the inbred southern personages come up MY way.” 9:33:01 AM 11/11/04 “Artex: it isn't meant to be a backpacking stove, but a car camping stove... LOL” 9:42:24 AM 11/12/04 “PB, I would suggest using the political section of the newspaper with that grill. You can always be sure to get some good flames out of that section.” 9:45:46 AM 11/12/04 I'm not certain... “That I'd want to eat food that has been cooked over burning newspaper. Aren't there some issues over burning ink and paperbyproducts?” 10:15:48 AM 11/12/04 “Oh come on Stikky, it's good for you... ...eat the burger....eat the burger...” 10:17:25 AM 11/12/04
