I installed Foxfire web browser today. Not too shabby. I dig it. It seems to do just about everything I need it too. It has a tab browser function so you can have multiple pages open without opening multiple versions of the program like IE. The word is that since most annoyances are written for IE Foxfire has fewer pop-ups and security risks. Anyone else using it or have opinions?

It be free. Get it here:

I love the tabs, that's the reason why I use netscape. I now can have 10 pages or more open without all the darn clutter.

I'll check foxfire out.

Firefox is pretty damn cool.
Unfortunately it has a very long way to go to gain market share.

I pulled down Thuinderbird e-mail client, too. Haven't loaded it yet. Anyone using it?

Sacco, I not positive if this is still true, but IE had a FTP feature built into it. Just type the FTP address in the address bar.

I take it you want a visual FTP, like CuteFTP? Because I'm pretty sure that the command-line version is available gratis on just about every operating system there is.

No, it's a 30-day trial. It's good, but not free.

I haven't done a really widespread comparison because when I need FTP I just use the command line. Call me old-fashioned...

Here's a free one, but I have no idea if it's any good

Of course, like all free software, it may be loaded with spyware or adware. Caveat emptor...

Search for the old standby: WS_FTP LE. No longer offered by the company but still available some places if you look. I think they have a new version which is still free for home use, from the maker. I have to stick with the older LE version since its free for gov't use (new one isn't).

Sacco what kind of stuff are you trying to do? Are you just trying to copy files from or to an FTP server?

hell man, i'm just trying to upload files for my webpage.

i can't seem to use regular windows or IE.

there's a propietary (sp) little FTP program that comes with the web host, but it sucks, and will only let me upload a few files at a time.

i was using ISPswitch that let me replicate my entire site, all the folders and files on my hardrive. i would use 1st page html editor to work on my site, then upload the whole directory.
but now ispswitch want's money.

does this make sense? i'm speaking on the border of my PC saviness right now and may be getting some of the terminology wrong.
