“CBC Radio (and so it must be true) has an evening programme where they 'phone people and interview them. They managed to get in touch with the Deputy Sheriff of that parish and he gave an entertaining and witty account of the event.

At the end he asked, 'Where y'all calling from?'

It took a few tries because Toronto people pronounce it, 'Trannah' which drives the rest of the country absolutely spare.

'Oh, Toronto, Canada, and the beaver is your national symbol. Now I understand.'
