Don’t mess with us Idaho women!
Pocatello police Lt. Rick Capell said the women were lucky the suspect wasn't armed,” It is luck for the suspect that the women were not armed.

I prosecuted a case 20 years ago where the police set up a video surveillance of a smash and grab artist. Two hours into the surveillance, in a split second, the suspect smashed out the passenger window of a woman\'s car stopped at the traffic light, and reached in and grabbed her purse on the seat. Unknown to everybody at the time, the woman was the niece of the past Chicago Police Superintendant, and she was not about to let some punk take her purse. Before the punk could remove her purse from the car, she wrenched it back from his grip. Empty handed, the punk jogged into the projects. The driver of the vehicle behind hers jogged after the punk, but his gang banger friends barred his entrance to the building, so the guy jogged back to his pick up truck, reaches into the glove box, and pulls out a handgun. The last thing you heard on the tape was the cop with the binoculars say to the cop running the camcorder, "he's got a gun, shut the tape off", and the tape goes blank. The officer explained to me later that he did not want the tape to interfere with justice should the good samaritan meet with resistence in his attempt to apprehend the punk. The police eventually arrested the punk a few days later.

I gave the original tape to the victim, and the culprit went to prison after a quick trial.
