“The thing I'm waiting on next are the lawsuits. I can just see the guys that got hit suing the big, bad professional athlete. If you'd sat your a$$ down and not gone on the court then you wouldn't have gotten smacked. Your own actions led to your being hit. No lawsuit due, but I'm sure there will be plenty. “Saturday morning when the sports headlines were covering this disgraceful event, the local paper also happened to be running a series of articles on the demise of basketball. Ironic.

The basic theme was that basketball is now about the individual, that basic skills are lacking and that the game overall is suffering. Foreign teams play a more team oriented game and are whipping our a$$.
John Wooden says that we should once again outlaw the dunk and 3-point shot. He may be right.

CB, I agree with you on what you said, and the fact that the fans should be accountable also. Get you ass out of the schoolyard and be the professional you were hired to be or sit your ass out for 72 games. And lose about 5 million bucks too. The jack off deserved it and I hope no one buys the POS's rap album either...”

“About the footballfight, Geo. I saw a clip of that last night and it was run in conjunction with the NBA story. The commentators came on after they showed a few interview clips with the players involved in the college fiasco and commented on the following exceprts:

One player said, "hey, we won the game and we won the fight." Brilliant! No remorse whatsoever, I guess.

Then, the other genius pipes up and says, "Blame the Indiana Pacers for this."

I think season-long suspensions would solve the problem in all sports, including hockey.

John Feinstein said on NPR this morning that the presidents of both schools should turn down any bowl invitations in response to that fight. I agree whole-heartedly.”

“The other part is what the commentators said. They called on the NCAA to do what David Stern did and come down hard on them. But, this is a different organization and with scholarships and careers potentials in the running with these guys, there seemed to be a consensus that they be a little more influenced by that in their punishments...”

I wish to file a complaint against the NBA and my local TV affiliate that broadcast last the Friday November 19, 2004 Pacers vs. Pistons basketball game on live TV.

I wish to stress to you in the most severe terms, my incredible outrage at this kind of broadcast that incites the more unstable in society to use violence as an option in settling disputes. This incident is FAR more dangerous to society than a bare breast at the super bowel and deserves even more attention than that given Janet Jackson. Lives ARE lost due to violence, and the NBA and my local affiliate should not be broadcasting LIVE violence on television, especially when it is fully aware of the propensity for fights to break out during its games. Why no ten second delay? Why no standard orders to the cameramen to NOT film fights when they happen? No, the NBA and my local affiliate wantonly broadcast real violence real-time on my TV in order to titillate its viewers. That is obscene and unChristian.

I hereby request your office to conduct an investigation and to levy appropriate fines against the NBA and the Television stations that broadcast this incitement to violence. Please advise me of your intentions regarding this complaint.

“"Best" fight I ever got into was during a game. I was being outclassed by an opponent on a regular basis during the first half. Our teams were archrivals and we were very physical. My teammates were all over me, screaming at me that I had better stop him.

Man I was getting frustrated.

Then, on the last play of the game, he blew right by me. I somehow tackled him from behind and drove his face into the dirt.

That cleared both benches and the game was suspended.

Furthermore, all games between our two schools were canceled for the rest of the season.


I used to love soccer.


We were always very physical and we enjoyed indoor the most, especially in Buffalo where we played at the MSL arena & we could "use" the boards to neutralize an opponent. ;)”
