the typical sporting event is what, about 75 percent male audience. so that comes out to about 3 tna for every peni$. that would be fair. id look at a peni$ once if i could see three tna. i could live with that

He should file a grievance for "unsafe work environment". I'll bet I could get that suspension at least cut in half for my union brother.

“Nigal, that's total BS! Maybe you love the fighting. That's your perogative. But, don't tell me that they have a right to turn the place into a schoolyard. Have a few kids and bring them to one of those games and when you inadvertantly get hit, let me see you sing the same tune. F-ck those unprofessional animals. They deserve sh_t!”

Ah yes! The old tired, "You don't have kids so shut up!" argument. Very touching yet at the same time uneffective. first off, I don't allow the fans around me to act like asses and throw stuff. Second, the dude got what was coming to him. Third, I didn't see any kids get hit. Fourth, whatnever...

Enjoy the fights. Sorry if you take offense to my looking down at that as I feel it perpetuates this scumbag mentality. But, that's the way I feel.

The American Way?
Turns out there's a fairly long history of this. They left out Philly fans throwing snowballs (led by then DA Ed Rendell) and pelting J.D. Drew with batteries.

Note to all: I am not, by any means, condoning any of this behavior.

It appears they have ID'd the guy who threw the cup and it looks like he is going to face some sort of criminal charges. The same goes for some of the players.

Was that hypocritical too, JO?

The Auburn Hills police are asking fans involved to turn themselves in, if not, they will be found. There is enough video to figure out who they are.

A co-worker was at the game with some clients. They said a TV time-out had cleared out most of the crowd before the fight, since the Pistons were getting killed that night. He said there were only about 10,000 fans still in the Palace at that point. So, it could have been worse. Most of the seats were already empty. And, it was raining that night, so that probably prevented any additional fights outside.

It turns out now that the guy Bit posted above, threw the cup that hit Artest. Also, the guy has a criminal record as well as 3 DUI's to his name.

Was a Pistons season ticket holder. Not anymore.

He is getting his 15 minutes of fame. ESPN interviewed him last night and he was on GMA this morning.

Artest was still wrong in going up in the stands, but this guy is going to get away clean. Probably file a law suit, write a book, ABC Sunday night movie, porn, etc...

Hard foul by Artest.
Uncalled for push by Wallace.
Artest has been suspended for this type of thing before, and has learned that he shouldn't fight on the court. He laid back. Wallace kept coming at Artest. And coming. And coming... Inciting the crowd. Threw a towel at Artest. Only then did the drinks start coming down.

Should Artest have laid there and taken the drinks? Probably. However, what would you have done if you were in a pub and someone was pushing you. Then someone threw a beer at you? You'd probably go kick some beer throwing arse, eh!

Artest's suspension is waaayyy to severe.
Wallace's suspension is waaayyy to light.

If Wallace had checked his atitude, this would be a diferent world. But now, we can blame Wallace and a few Pistons fans for the increased security and less access to the players. NBA basketball will never be the same.

This event is reflection of our society.
Any replies to my note which do not suport my opinion will be considered disrespectful. If you disrespect me, I may have to kick you arse! ha ha ha Point made.

Stove.... "did the fans get what they deserve?"
They paid to see a basketball game. They paid to "see" a basketball game. Does that ticket give them the right to assult a player? It was only a cup of liquid, but it is still hardly civil to throw anything at anyone.

The entire episode is sad. The fanatics have only begun to see what is coming to them. I am looking for lawsuits being filed by the Pacers and against the fanatics for loss of wages.

I may have watched a taping of the Oprah show. I may not have liked how she disrespected the beef industry during the taping of that show. I may have thrown a chair at her. Sadly, the chair may have missed the intended target. Oprah may have charged at me and pinned me with her right ox butt. I may not have been able to breath.
Would Oprah be a poor misunderstood victim?

Stove... are you sugesting that because the players have multi million $ contracts, they deserve everything they get when on the court?

I will agree with you on the few Pistons fans thing, but I don't agree with the Wallace part. Wallace shoved him, big whoopty-doo. There were two seperate incidents that night. What happened on the floor and then off. Fans shouldn't throw things and players shouldn't go into the crowd after them.

I think this is nopt a reflection of society but rather a reflection of the outcome of an NHL lockout.

Wallace shoved him. Big whoopty-doo indeed. If Wallace had stopped with the shove, everything would be fine. But, Wallace continued to come after him.(Big whoopty-doo) Wallace did not calm down. Wallace eventually threw in the towel.(Big whoopty-doo) Moments later, a fanatic threw a cup at him. In my view it is not 2 seperate incidences, but a continuation of one incidence.

Then there are the fanatics that were throwing stuff at and pouring things upon the players as they were going through the tunnel.

What happens on the court is one thing and off is another. This is pretty well reflected in the duration of the suspension.

If Detroit was going to riot at a game they would probably do it at a Lions or Tigers game. That might be a little more justifiable.

Authorities in Auburn Hills, Mich., confirmed yesterday that they intend to file charges against members of the Indiana Pacers -- as well as a number of fans -- involved in Friday night's brawl during a game between the Pacers and Pistons. "Charges are forthcoming," Oakland County prosecutor David Gorcyca said in a phone interview. Gorcyca is waiting until all the evidence is gathered before charging individuals, a process that will take at least two weeks, said Lt. James Manning of the Auburn Hills Police Department. The investigation has been slowed by the sheer volume of altercations captured on video.

Police have also begun investigating new reports that Indiana reserve center David Harrison struck a man during the melee but apparently out of camera range. "The information that we've received is that Harrison hit a 60-year-old man without any provocation," Gorcyca said. Harrison declined comment.

Airborne Egg McMuffin Lands Man in Hot Water

HOLLAND, Mich. (AP) — A man was fined $600 and put on probation for throwing an Egg McMuffin (search) at a McDonald's restaurant manager after he said he didn't get what he ordered.

Scott Rodgers, 46, was convicted last Thursday of misdemeanor assault and battery. Besides probation, he was sentenced to three days in a work program and a fine and is banned from the McDonald's.

Authorities said Rodgers and his 6-year-old son stopped to get four Egg McMuffins with ham on Oct. 9 but returned to the service window to complain that at least one of the sandwiches had sausage.

County prosecutor Craig Bunce said that when the shift manager asked him to give the sandwich back, he threw it through the window at her.

"The manager was picking egg out of her hair," he said.

Rodgers' attorney said he did not throw the sandwich, but rather returned it quickly.

i think someone said once the guy throwing the beer wasnt guilty of assault. i didnt think that sounded right
