“treebait, it really helped in the old days of Briggs (later Tiger) Stadium when the visiting team would have to endure icy rain or snow. It was Detroit's version of Green Bay's "Ice Bowl." Of course, in those days, the visitor might be GB, so no real advantage gained. Football mayhem on a sloppy turf field is something to be cherished when you are sitting in your warm, comfy living room, bloated with a humongous dinner.

Not to mention that now the Lions have a Yooper coach, so there is some quaint sentimental value to the proceedings, win or lose, lol.”
