just a thought right now
Trying to plan my last backpacking excursion of 2004 and it seems that the Dolly Sods would be an appropriate place to venture! It will be snowwy and cold and crampons maybe needed. Now routes planned yet. Sign up and help me plan it should you be interested!

then again
it may not be snowwy and crampons may not be necessary. We shall see.

Yeah...errrrrr...Right!
Last time I ventured to hike Dolly Sods in January my transmission went out on me somewhere around Elkins and I had to turn around and drive back home. 1st and 2nd gear was all I had left.

Can other people hike on your knee?

This trip would be in WV anyway, You may be a big girl but I don't really think there is enough room to hike on your knee :)

Yeah, but the important question is: can you hike on someone else's knee?

I can't imagin needing crampons in the Sods. Unless its cold enough to freeze all the muck! Hell, that would make it a nice place to hike in!

That has to have been the muddiest place I've ever been.

This could also involve Seneca Creek and Spruce Knob

Some guy out there has a website with a winter trip report from spruce knob, I'll see if I can find it.

Here it is...
