Down With Canada!

So, I'm watching the CBC tonight and they're doing this whole news program on "A Continent Divided."

They spent the first half hour interviewing Americans who are leaving the country.

Then, they start talking to American audience members in Windsor who are almost universally left of Che Guevara.

And then they start talking to Canadian audience members who start slamming down on the American way of doing things.

I am certainly no fan of George Bush. But, geez. Bush - my president - can't even speak in front of Parliament because he'll be heckled down. And, while 5,000 Americans per year head to Canada, 11,000 Canadians per year head to the United States.

I think George Bush is, in many ways, a lightning rod for preexisting anti-Americanism. Canadians should let the man speak.

Americans move up to Canada, because our dollar buys more up there. Everyone isn't fleeing because of politics, but it does make for a good story if you are a democrat.

Gosh, and I thought they were leaving for the health care. :)

RL, I watched a bit of that last night as well. I thought it was a debate about who the greatest Canadian was? Maybe that was a different show.

Anyway, I heard on the news this morning that there are a lot of Americans moving to Canada, most because they hate Bush, at least that's what the report said. I guess I don't really understand it all just yet.

Canada will not just let anyone in to stay.

You have to have a degree and at least 100K in savings.

Poor people need not apply.

And here in the U.S. poor people are brought in by the truck-load to do the dirty jobs.

Just don't expect to stay, y'all.

Let them leave. They will be just as miserable up there and find someone else to blaim for their problems.

You're right, it's all Bush's fault. Before he took office everyone loved us dearly. Had Kerry been elected we would have been loved again.

Nigal - You don't agree that the USA and it's foreign policies have become more universally hated since Bush took office?

That is my point EXACTLY. What has happened in the first four years of his term? Anything stick out in our memory that would cause us to have a different policy than on day one of his term? Anything at all?

Only a moron would attempt to hang anti-American sentiments on Bush as some kind of personality flaw. It's always us and never them.

In 2002(?)Low level administration officials met with Iranian officials in Geneva to discuss mutual "concerns" regarding Al Qaeda.

This was the first meeting between the 2 govts since the shah got #&%!$ slapped.

Things were good.

Days later Bush in his infinite ignorance of what the govt was doing, announced "The Axis of Evil".

On to Canada:

Canada considers the border to be the "longest two way mirror" in the world. Them looking at us and trying to figure us out. Us looking at us and admiring us

As for Parliment heckling, why should Bush be treated any different? ;)

Finally, Canadians treat Americans and all things American as we treat Catholics, The one subject with an open season.

I watched that program abit...and someone asked...what if the Democratics win next time? Will those U.S citizens move back to the U.S?

Canada will only accept immigrants if they're willing to set up shop (read: invest $250,000Can) and hire 8 full-time employees. Or you're a refugee.

Is the Canadian Ballet a thing of the past?

If the "dancer" in the picture is what people from Toronto pay to see get naked then I can understand why the business is dropping off.
