“ped, the great thing about living in Huntsville is the urban/rural mix. What's taking my backpacking time is the growing number of activities my children are taking part in, especially in the fall, which is my best time of the year to backpack. But this year I plan on doing at least some overnighters in October or November, come hell or high water.”

“bit, I can dig it. My daughter has a soccer game every saturday, midday. really puts a crimp in weekend plans. Its 5-6 hours to the real mountains or 3 hours to some decent hills. Theres no real primitive camping areas here on the coast unless you want to share it with hunters and atv/4 wheeler freaks”
